Kepu is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India.^[1]^[2] It is located in the Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka.

Karnataka is a state in the south western region of India. It was formed on 1 November 1956, with the passage of the States Reorganisation Act. Originally known as the State of Mysore, it was renamed Karnataka in 1973. The state corresponds to the Carnatic region. The capital and largest city is Bangalore.

Bantwal is a taluk in Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka, India. It is located 25 km (16 mi) East of Mangalore city.

Demographics

As of 2001^[update] India census, Kepu had a population of 5575 with 2775 males and 2800 females.^[1]

A census is the procedure of systematically acquiring and recording information about the members of a given population. This term is used mostly in connection with national population and housing censuses; other common censuses include traditional culture, business, supplies, and traffic censuses. The United Nations defines the essential features of population and housing censuses as "individual enumeration, universality within a defined territory, simultaneity and defined periodicity", and recommends that population censuses be taken at least every 10 years.
