Kumara Jayakody is a Sri Lankan politician and an engineer,who has served as the Minister of Energy of the Government of Sri Lanka since November 2024. [1] He is a member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka from National list since November 2024 as a member of the National People's Power. [2] He is also a national executive committee Member of NPP. [3]

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna is a leftist political party in Sri Lanka. The party was formerly a revolutionary movement and was involved in two armed uprisings against the government of Sri Lanka:once in 1971 (SLFP),and another in 1987–1989 (UNP).
