Nayana Wasalathilake is a businessman who was listed as the successor of Chaminda Wijesiri, a politician resigned their seat in the Sri Lankan parliament. He is a member of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya. [1] In 2023, ahead of the fourth edition of Lanka Premier League, Wasalthilaka acquired the Galle franchise of the league, which was known as Galle Gladiators. The franchise changed its name to Galle Titans under his ownership. [2]

The 2021 Lanka Premier League also known as Wolf777 News LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It took place from 5 to 23 December 2021. There were plans to increase the number of teams from five to six, but Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed that five teams would take part, as per the first tournament.

The 2022 Lanka Premier League also known as Mazaplay LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It was originally scheduled to take place from 31 July to 21 August 2022 with Sri Lanka Cricket initially having promised to conduct LPL tournament targeting the August window. The ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka were scrapped due to the hosting of this tournament. However, in July 2022, the tournament was postponed due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, with the aim to play it later in 2022. The tournament was later rescheduled and held from 6 to 23 December 2022. The tournament also emphasized to promote and boost both the economy and international tourism.

The Kandy Falcons is a franchise cricket team which competes in 2022 Lanka Premier League. The team is based in Kandy, Central Province, Sri Lanka. In November 2022, Kandy Falcons changed their name to Kandy Falcons. The team was captained by Wanindu Hasaranga and coached by Piyal Wijetunge.

The 2023 Lanka Premier League was the fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), a Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It began on 30 July and the final was held on 20 August 2023. The tournament was played by five teams in three international venues. The league was organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket. Jaffna Kings were the defending champions. This was the first Lanka Premier League season to feature an auction as the previous editions used to have the draft to choose players.

The Colombo Strikers is a franchise cricket team which competes in 2023 Lanka Premier League. The team is based in Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka. In May 2023, they changed their name to Colombo Strikers after changing the ownership. The team was captained by Niroshan Dickwella and coached by Simon Helmot.

The B-Love Kandy is a franchise cricket team that competed in 2023 Lanka Premier League. The team is based in Kandy, Central Province Sri Lanka. They changed their name to B-Love Kandy after changing the owners. The team was captained by Wanindu Hasaranga and coached by Mushtaq Ahmed.
