Thalatha Atukorale (born 30 May 1963) is a Sri Lankan politician and a member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Atukorale was appointed as the cabinet minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare by President Maithripala Sirisena on 12 January 2015. She was given the additional duties of Minister of Justice on 25 August 2017,becoming the first woman to hold that position in Sri Lanka. [1] She is the sister of Gamini Atukorale,former minister and assistant leader of the United National Party.
Atukorale came into active politics in 2004,after the death of her brother Gamini,a former cabinet minister and assistant leader of the United National Party. She was elected to the parliament at the 2004,2010 and 2015 elections from Rathnapura district.
Atukorale announced her resignation as a member of Parliament of Sri Lanka on 21 August 2024,in a parliamentary address that included scathing critique of her party’s Presidential hopeful Sajith Premadasa. [2]
Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga,commonly referred to by her initials CBK,is a Sri Lankan politician who served as the fifth president of Sri Lanka from 12 November 1994 to 19 November 2005. She previously served as the prime minister from August to November 1994 and the chief minister of the Western Province from 1993 to 1994. She is the country's first and only female president to date and the country's second female prime minister. She was the leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) from 1994 to 2005.
Ranil Wickremesinghe is a Sri Lankan politician who served as the ninth President of Sri Lanka from 2022 to 2024. Previously,he served as Prime Minister of Sri Lanka from 1993–1994,2001–2004,2015–2018,2018-2019 and in 2022. He held several ministerial roles,including Minister of Finance,Minister of Defence,Minister of Technology and Minister of Women,Child Affairs and Social Empowerment. Wickremesinghe has led the United National Party (UNP) since 1994 and has been Prime Minister of Sri Lanka on six occasions.

Mallawa Arachchige Gamini Jayawickrama Perera was a Sri Lankan politician. He was a United National Party member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka for the Kurunegala District between 1994 and 2020,and had previously represented Katugampola in the National State Assembly from 1977 to 1989. Perera served many cabinet positions in various Sri Lankan governments,including being the Minister of Buddha Sasana,Minister of Wayamba Development,Minister of Sustainable Development and Wildlife,Minister of Food Security and the Minister of Irrigation and Water Management. Sajith Premadasa is a Sri Lankan politician. He is the current Leader of the Opposition of Sri Lanka and a Member of Parliament for the Colombo District. He is the current leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.

Sajith Premadasa,son of former president Ranasinghe Premadasa and deputy leader of the United National Party was the candidate of the ruling party.
