Tilak Janaka Marapana PC (born August 1942) is a Sri Lankan lawyer. He was the Minister of Foreign Affairsand Development Assignments. He is a Member of Parliament appointed from the national list and had served as Minister of Law and Order,Prison Reforms from September 2015 to November 2015 and Minister of Defence (2001–2003) and Minister of Transport,Highways and Aviation (2002–2004). As Minister of Defence,he was the only non Presidential or Prime Ministerial holder of the portfolio. A lawyer by profession and a President's Counsel,he had served as a government prosecutor in the Attorney General's Department for twenty six years,serving as Solicitor General and Attorney General.
Marapana hails from Ratnapura,Sabaragamuwa,he is the second son of former District Judge P. Marapana and has one brother Gamini Marapana,PC. He is an alumnus of S. Thomas' College,Mount Lavinia. He has a degree in chemistry and maths as well as a law degree.
Marapana joined the Attorney General's Department as a Crown Counsel in 1968.In 1988 he was made a President's Counsel. In 1990 he was appointed Solicitor General and thereafter was promoted to Attorney General in 1992. He retired as Attorney General in 1995,following the change of the United National Party Government,reverting to the Unofficial Bar.
In 2000 he was appointed a Member of Parliament from the national list by the UNP. In 2001 he was made Minister of Defence. In 2002 he was made Minister of Transport,Highways,and Aviation in addition to the portfolio of Minister of Defence. In 2015,he was reappointed Member of Parliament from the national list and was appointed Cabinet Minister of Law and Order,Prison Reforms in September 2015.He resigned from the post in November 2015 after a speech he made in Parliament regarding the legal position of the Avant Garde controversy. In May 2017,following a cabinet reshuffle he was appointed Minister of Development Assignments. He was also appointed for the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs on August 15,2017 after resignation of Ravi Karunanayake.
Marapana is married to Stella,they have two sons,Janaka and Chamith both practicing lawyers.

He was a prominent member of the United National Party,who served as Minister of Trade and Shipping;Minister National Security and Deputy Minister of Defence;Minister of Agriculture,Food and Cooperatives and finally Minister of Education. Following a failed impeachment of President Ranasinghe Premadasa,he was removed from the UNP and formed his own party,the Democratic United National Front. He was assassinated under mysterious circumstances in 1993.

A President's Counsel is an eminent lawyer who is appointed by the President of Sri Lanka as an individual "learned in the law". The term is an honorific that replaced the Queen's Counsel (QC),which Sri Lanka ceased appointing when it became a republic in 1972. It is equivalent to the appointment of a King's Counsel in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms,and that of Senior Counsel in Commonwealth republics,bearing the same privileges,such as sitting within the Bar of court.
Ravindra Sandresh Karunanayake is a Sri Lankan politician. A former Member of Parliament for the Colombo District,he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from May 2017 to August 2017,Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2017,and Cabinet Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs from 2001 to 2004 and Cabinet Minister of Power and Energy since December 2018 till November 2019.
Mohamed Faiszer Musthapha,PC,MP is a Sri Lankan lawyer and a politician. He was the Minister of Sports and Provincial Councils and Local Government and a member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Faiszer Musthapha is married to Fathima Rifa who is also a lawyer. They have two daughters.

Suhada Gamlath PC is a Sri Lankan lawyer. He was the 44th Solicitor General of Sri Lanka and temporarily the Attorney General of Sri Lanka from January to February 2016. He was a former Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Justice and Law Reforms. He was educated at Royal College Colombo and at the Sri Lanka Law College.
Vasantha Senanayake is a Sri Lankan politician who was a member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. He belongs to the United National Party. He is a great grandson of D. S. Senanayake and cousin of Ruwan Wijewardene.
Justice S. W. B. Wadugodapitiya,PC is a Sri Lankan judge. He was a Judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and had served as the Acting Chief Justice. He was also the 33rd Solicitor General of Sri Lanka.
Jayantha Chandrasiri Jayasuriya PC is a lawyer who is serving as the 47th Chief Justice of Sri Lanka since 2019. Jayasuriya was approved by the Constitutional Council on the 26 April 2019 and sworn in three days later on the 29 April,succeeding Chief Justice Nalin Perera. He previously served as the 45th Attorney General of Sri Lanka. While serving as Attorney General Jayasuriya defended the sacking of the Prime Minister by the President of Sri Lanka but was over-ruled by the Supreme Court. Jayasuriya controversially requested an extension of the term of office of President Sirisena prior to being made Chief Justice. The Supreme Court overruled that request.
