Lebanon is a town in Waupaca County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,648 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Carmel is located in the town. The ghost town of Nowell was also located in the town.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 36.1 square miles (93.4 km2), of which, 36.0 square miles (93.4 km2) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km2) of it (0.08%) is water.
As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 1,648 people, 573 households, and 456 families residing in the town. The population density was 45.7 people per square mile (17.7/km2). There were 587 housing units at an average density of 16.3 per square mile (6.3/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.60% White, 0.06% African American, 0.42% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.61% from other races, and 0.24% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.79% of the population.
There were 573 households, out of which 41.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.7% were married couples living together, 4.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.4% were non-families. 16.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.88 and the average family size was 3.25.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 29.9% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 32.2% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 8.9% who were 65 years of age or older.
