Tareque Masud was a Bangladeshi independent film director, film producer, screenwriter and lyricist. He first found success with the films Muktir Gaan (1995) and Matir Moina (2002), for which he won three international awards, including the International Critics' FIPRESCI Prize, in the Directors' Fortnight at 2002 Cannes Film Festival. The film became Bangladesh's first film to compete for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Sarah Begum Kabori was a Bangladeshi film actress and politician. Her notable films include Sutorang, Sareng Bou, Abhirbhab, Shat Bhai Champa, Sujon Sokhi and Lalon Fokir. She received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Sareng Bou (1978) and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.

Montazur Rahman Akbar is a Bangladeshi film director, screenwriter, producer, social activist and entrepreneur. He is known for his work in the Bengali-language film industry, which is centered in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Akbar also fought in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.

Dhire Bohe Meghna is a 1973 Bengali war film based on the events of the Bangladesh Liberation War. The film is written and directed by Alamgir Kabir. It was his first feature film.
The 34th National Film Awards, presented by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi Cinema released in the year 2009. The government announced the names of 28 artistes in 26 categories for the National Film Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the country's film industry. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave away the awards to the artistes. From this year, Government decided to give lifetime achievement award and Sultana Zaman was the first recipient of the award.
Ghuddi is a 1980 Bangladeshi romantic drama film directed by Syed Salahuddin Zaki, who also wrote story, screenplay and dialogue. It is the first film directed by Salahuddin Zakir. Subarna Mustafa has played the main role in film with Raisul Islam Asad, Nasir Uddin Yusuf, Tariq Anam Khan, Nayla Azad Nupur, Syed Hasan Imam and Happy Akhand in supporting roles.। Subarna Mustafa debuted in the film. In the film, Raisul Islam Asad was a freedom fighter in the film and he is also a freedom fighter in the real life.
The Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Editing is one of the highest film awards in Bangladesh. Since 1977, the awards are given in the category of best Editing. The first award winner was Bashir Hossain. Mujibur Rahman Dulu was awarded 8 times and Aminul Islam Mintu was awarded 4 times.
Sangram is a Bangladeshi war drama film that was released in 1974. The film was directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam and produced by Kazi Sobuz. Its story is based on true events Khaled Mosharraf wrote in a diary; it depicts the East Bengal Regiment's battles against the Pakistan army and the contribution of Bengali armies to Bangladesh's war of liberation.
Sukumari is the first ever made film based in Dhaka, British India, initiated by enthusiasts from the Nawab family of Dhaka. Inspired by their encouragement, Ambuja Prasanna Gupta directed this experimental short silent film in 1927. The actors and crew were all residents of Dhaka, and it was their first experience in filmmaking. Consequently, the producers, director, actors, and entire crew of this film are considered the pioneers of film production in Dhaka, and thus, in Bangladesh.
