Tareque Masud was a Bangladeshi independent film director, film producer, screenwriter and lyricist. He first found success with the films Muktir Gaan (1995) and Matir Moina (2002), for which he won three international awards, including the International Critics' FIPRESCI Prize, in the Directors' Fortnight at 2002 Cannes Film Festival. The film became Bangladesh's first film to compete for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Sarah Begum Kabori was a Bangladeshi film actress and politician. Her notable films include Sutorang, Sareng Bou, Abhirbhab, Shat Bhai Champa, Sujon Sokhi and Lalon Fokir. She received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Sareng Bou (1978) and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.

Impress Telefilm Limited is a media production house in Bangladesh, formed in 2003. The company produces film, drama, and drama serials, music videos, variety shows, magazine programmes, musical programmes and documentaries as well as TV commercials. It was founded by Faridur Reza Sagar.

Montazur Rahman Akbar is a Bangladeshi film director, screenwriter, producer, social activist and entrepreneur. He is known for his work in the Bengali-language film industry, which is centered in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Akbar also fought in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.

The 2nd Bangladesh National Film Awards was presented by Ministry of Information to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi Cinema censored in the year 1976. It was the second ceremony of National Film Awards. The Ceremony took place at Dhaka, Bangladesh on March 24, 1977, and awards were given by then President of Bangladesh. 20 films were submitted for different categories.

The 6th Bangladesh National Film Awards, presented by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi Cinema released in the year 1980. Bangladesh National Film Awards is a film award ceremony in Bangladesh established in 1975 by Government of Bangladesh. A national panel appointed by the government selects the winning entry, and the award ceremony is held in Dhaka. 1980 was the 6th ceremony of Bangladesh National Film Award.

The 16th Bangladesh National Film Awards, presented by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi Cinema released in the year 1991. The ceremony took place in Dhaka and awards were given by then President of Bangladesh. The National Film Awards are the only film awards given by the government itself. Every year, a national panel appointed by the government selects the winning entry, and the award ceremony is held in Dhaka. 1991 was the 16th ceremony of National Film Awards.

Dhire Bohe Meghna is a 1973 Bengali war film based on the events of the Bangladesh Liberation War. The film is written and directed by Alamgir Kabir and it was his first feature film.

The 34th National Film Awards, presented by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi Cinema released in the year 2009. The government announced the names of 28 artistes in 26 categories for the National Film Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the country's film industry. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave away the awards to the artistes. From this year, Government decided to give lifetime achievement award and Sultana Zaman was the first recipient of the award.

The Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Editing is one of the highest film awards in Bangladesh. Since 1977, the awards are given in the category of best Editing. The first award winner was Bashir Hossain. Mujibur Rahman Dulu was awarded 8 times and Aminul Islam Mintu was awarded 4 times.

Sangram is a Bangladeshi war drama film that was released in 1974. The film was directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam and produced by Kazi Sobuz. Its story is based on true events Khaled Mosharraf wrote in a diary; it depicts the East Bengal Regiment's battles against the Pakistan army and the contribution of Bengali armies to Bangladesh's war of liberation.

<i>JK 1971</i> 2023 Bangladeshi film

JK 1971 or 1971 et Kay is a 2023 Bangladeshi period drama film directed by Fakhrul Arefeen Khan and produced by Gorai Films. It is the first English-language Bangladeshi film about the Bangladesh liberation war that features Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Subhra Sourav Das in lead role. The film is based on PIA flight PK712 hijacking.
