Jacques-Nompar de Caumont, duc de La Force

Jacques-Nompar de Caumont, duc de La Force was a marshal of France and peer of France. He was the son of a Huguenot, Francois de Caumont, lord of Castelnau, and Philippe de Beaupoil. He survived the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre in 1572, but his father and older brother Armand were killed.

During the Bourbon Restoration (1814–1830) and the July Monarchy (1830–1848), the Doctrinals were a group of French royalists who hoped to reconcile the monarchy with the French Revolution and power with liberty. Headed by Royer-Collard, these liberal royalists were in favor of a constitutional monarchy, but with a heavily restricted census suffrage—Louis XVIII, who had been restored to the throne, had granted a Charter to the French with a Chamber of Peers and a Chamber of Deputies elected under tight electoral laws. The Doctrinaires were a "centrist" and conservative-liberal group, but at that time, liberal was considered to be the mainstream left, so the group was considered a "centre-left" group.

Élie, duc Decazes

Élie, 1st Duke of Decazes and Glücksbierg was a French statesman, leader of the liberal Doctrinaires party during the Bourbon Restoration.

A Colonel General was an officer of the French army during the Ancien Régime, the French Revolution, the Napoleonic era and the Bourbon Restoration.

House of Talleyrand-Périgord

The House of Talleyrand-Périgord was a French noble house. A well-known member of this family was Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord (1754–1838), who achieved distinction as a French statesman and diplomat. The family name became extinct in 2003 upon the death of Violette de Talleyrand-Périgord.

Jacques Castelot French actor

Jacques Castelot was a French film actor. He appeared in more than 80 films between 1938 and 1982. His brother was the writer André Castelot and their father was the Symbolist painter Maurice Chabas. From 1940 to 1945 he was married to actress and theater director Héléna Bossis.

Military governor of Paris French army post

The Military governor of Paris is a post within the French Army. He commands the garrison of Paris and represents all the military based in Paris at high state occasions. He is also responsible for organizing major national ceremonies such as the Bastille Day military parade down the Champs-Élysées.

The Grand Butler of France was one of the great offices of state in France, existing between the Middle Ages and the Revolution of 1789. Originally responsible for the maintenance of the Royal vineyards, and provisioning the court with wine, the Grand Butler's role became less and less important and more ceremonial over time.

Galerie des Batailles

The Galerie des Batailles is a gallery occupying the first floor of the Aile du Midi of the Palace of Versailles, joining onto the grand and petit appartement de la reine. 120 m (390 ft) long and 13 m (43 ft) wide, it is an epigone of the grand gallery of the Louvre and was intended to glorify French military history from the Battle of Tolbiac to the Battle of Wagram.

Georges, marquis dHarcourt

Georges-Trevor-Douglas-Bernard d'Harcourt-Olonde was a French aristocrat and a 19th-century diplomat. Formally styled marquis d'Harcourt, he served as French Ambassador to London from 1875 until 1879.
