Football is one of the most popular sports in Nepal. It is governed by the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), which oversees the men's and women's national teams as well as club competitions. The present acting president of ANFA is Karma Kshiring Sherpa. The current top domestic league is the Martyr's Memorial A Division league. The Nepal national football team represents Nepal in all international competitions.

The 2009 AFC President's Cup was the fifth edition of the AFC President's Cup, a competition for football clubs in countries categorized as "emerging nations" by the Asian Football Confederation. Eleven teams competed for the title and were split up into three groups, playing each other team in their group once. The winner of each group and the best runner-up qualified for the semifinals, and the winners of the semifinal matches played in the final match to determine the winner.

Qualification for the Asian Football Confederation's 1988 AFC Asian Cup finals held in Qatar between 2 and 18 December. Saudi Arabia defeated Republic of Korea in the final match in Doha.

The 2012 AFC Challenge Cup was the fourth edition of the tournament, an international football competition for Asian Football Confederation (AFC) member nations that are mainly categorized as "emerging countries" in the defunct Vision Asia programme. It took place in Nepal from 8–19 March 2012. Unlike in previous editions of the tournament, there were no automatic qualifiers. Therefore, 2010 champions North Korea, runners-up Turkmenistan, and third-placed Tajikistan had to navigate the qualification phase in order to return to the finals. North Korea successfully defended their title and qualified for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.

The Pokhara Rangasala is a multi-purpose stadium in Pokhara, Gandaki Province, Nepal. It has a capacity of 16,500 spectators. The venue is located to the south of Pokhara at Rambazaar on the eastern bank of Seti river.

The 2013 South Asian Football Federation Championship, commonly referred to as 2013 SAFF Championship, was the 10th SAFF Championship for men's national football teams organized by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). The tournament took place from 31 August to 11 September 2013, and was hosted by Nepal for the second time, with the previous being in 1997.

Ncell Cup is a football knockout tournament in Nepal. The Ncell Cup tournament, sponsored by telecommunications company Ncell, is participated by the clubs ranked under the ‘A’ division. The current holders of the tournament are Manang Marshyangdi Club who beat Boys Union Club 1-0 after extra-time in the final played at Dasarath Rangasala Stadium.

The 2013 SAFF U-16 Championship was the 2nd edition of the SAFF U-16 Championship organized by South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). The tournament hosted by Nepal from 20 to 30 July at Dasarath Stadium and army ground. Seven teams from the region were participated in the tournament.

2013 Ncell Cup 2013, the A division knockout football tournament held in December, 2013 at Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu, Nepal.The Second edition of the Ncell Cup tournament, sponsored by telecommunications company Ncell, will be participated by 12 clubs ranked under the ‘A’ division. Ranipokhari Corner Team withdrew from the tournament citing financial problems and were deducted 3 points in the 2013–14 league season.

Saraswoti Youth Club is a Nepali football club from the Koteshwor neighborhood of Kathmandu that competes in the Martyr's Memorial B-Division League. They play at the Dasarath Rangasala Stadium, which has a capacity of 15,000 spectators.

Boys Union Club is an association football club from Nepal. They play at 25,000 capacity Dasarath Rangasala Stadium. The club is a one-time Martyr's Memorial A-Division League champion, having won the title in 1975.

ANFA Complex is a football stadium and training facility and hosts the headquarters of All Nepal Football Association in Lalitpur, Nepal built in 1999 by All Nepal Football Association. It consists of ANFA House, an ANFA Academy, a hostel, and a football ground.
