The two largest and most visited shopping malls of France are Les Quatre Temps in La Défense near Paris, and La Part-Dieu in Lyon which is going to be extended of 32,000 m² in 2020 and become the largest shopping mall of France.
La Défense is a major business district in France, located 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) west of the city limits of Paris. It is part of the Paris metropolitan area in the Île-de-France region, located in the department of Hauts-de-Seine in the communes of Courbevoie, La Garenne-Colombes, Nanterre, and Puteaux.
A shopping mall is a large indoor shopping center, usually anchored by department stores. The term mall originally meant a pedestrian promenade with shops along it, but in the late 1960s, it began to be used as a generic term for the large enclosed shopping centers that were becoming increasingly commonplace. The Galeries Lafayette is an upmarket French department store chain, the biggest in Europe. Its flagship store is on Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement of Paris but it now operates a number of locations in France and other countries. In 2019, Galeries Lafayette recorded earnings of over five billion euros. It is a part of the company Groupe Galeries Lafayette and has been a member of the International Association of department stores since 1960.
Carrefour Laval is a superregional shopping mall in Laval, Quebec, Canada. It is located in the Chomedey neighbourhood of the city at the intersection of Laurentian Autoroute (A-15) and Autoroute Jean-Noël-Lavoie (A-440).
Châtelet–Les Halles station is a major train hub in Paris and one of the largest underground stations in the world. Opened in 1977, it is the central transit hub for the Paris metropolitan area, connecting three of five RER commuter-rail lines and five of sixteen Métro lines. The hub hosts 750,000 travellers per weekday and platforms separated by up to 800 metres (0.5 mi). It is named after the nearby Place du Châtelet public square and Les Halles, the former wholesale food market of Paris, now a shopping mall.
Bayshore Shopping Centre is a major shopping mall located in the Nepean district of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The mall is one of the busiest in the National Capital Region as it attracts almost 8 million visitors per year from across the city and the surrounding region. It is the second largest shopping mall in the National Capital Region. It is anchored by Hudson's Bay, a combined Winners/HomeSense store and Walmart Supercentre.
Valley View Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in La Crosse, Wisconsin in the United States. Valley View Mall comprises 73 stores, restaurants, and a food court. The anchor stores are Barnes & Noble, JCPenney, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Hy-Vee. There is one vacant anchor store; Herberger's. Valley View Mall's trade area represents communities in three states with a radius of approximately 50 miles (80 km) surrounding the shopping center. It is located south of Interstate 90 in one of La Crosse's largest business districts.
Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE is a French multinational commercial real estate company headquartered in Paris, France. Its history originates with the formation of two separate shopping centre operators, Unibail and Rodamco Europe, which merged in 2007 and became a societas Europaea in 2009. The company acquired Australian shopping centre operator Westfield Corporation in June 2018.
Place Versailles is a shopping mall located at the corner of Sherbrooke Street East and Highway 25 in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. With its 225 stores, it is the largest enclosed shopping centre on the Island of Montreal. Its anchors are Canadian Tire, Maxi, Winners/HomeSense and Bureau en Gros.
Planoise is an urban area in the western part of Besançon, France, built in the 1960s between the hill of Planoise and the district of Hauts-de-Chazal. It is the most populous district of Besançon, with 15,378 inhabitants. Its inhabitants are called Planoisiens and Planoisiennes.
La Part-Dieu is an area of Lyon Metropolis. It is also the second largest tertiary district in France, after La Défense in Greater Paris, with over 1,115,000 m2 (12,000,000 sq ft) of office and service space, along with 45,000 service sector jobs, 2,500 companies and a 97% occupancy rate. The area contains the Part-Dieu train station.
Centro Comercial Aricanduva, also known as Shopping Aricanduva, is the third largest shopping mall in Latin America behind the Albrook Mall in Panama, and Antea LifeStyle Center in Mexico, and one of the largest in the world. It has over 500 shops, 14 cinemas and 14,700 parking spaces. The mall has 265,500 m2 (2,858,000 sq ft) of built area, out of which 257,047 m2 (2,766,830 sq ft) is leasable space, making it the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere. The mall is located in the Aricanduva Avenue, district of Cidade Líder, São Paulo. Its slogan is "Gigante como São Paulo", which means "Gigantic like São Paulo."
Pacific East Mall is a shopping mall anchored by an Asian supermarket in Richmond, California. It is owned by Pacific Infinity Company Incorporated.
Mall of Africa is a shopping mall located in Waterfall City, Midrand, Gauteng. It is the third largest single-phase shopping mall to be built in Africa, but smaller than Gateway, Sandton City, Menlyn Park and Fourways Mall. The total retail area is 130 000 square metres. The shopping mall has two main levels of shopping as well as an outdoor restaurant plaza which connects directly to the Waterfall City Park.
Maisons du Monde is a French furniture and home decor company founded in Brest in 1996 by Xavier Marie. At the end of 2015 it had nearly 250 stores across France, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and in Switzerland, of which more than 180 are in France. In 2010, it generated nearly €323 million in sales. In 2015 it employed over 5,500 people.
Val d’Europe is a shopping mall located 30 minutes to the east of Paris, the French capital and 5 minutes from the Disneyland Paris theme park and the Villages Nature holiday village.
