Konak is a municipality and district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Its area is 24 km2, and its population is 332,277 (2022). It is the most densely populated of the thirty districts of İzmir, and has historically acted as the administrative and economic core of the city. Situated in an area that roughly corresponds to the geographic center of İzmir, Konak extends for 11.4 kilometres along the southern coastline of the Gulf of İzmir. Konak district area neighbors the district areas of Bornova to the east, Balçova to the west and Buca and Karabağlar to the south. Konak center is connected to other districts of İzmir and beyond by a dense network of roads and railroads, as well as by a subway line currently being largely extended and by ferry services to Karşıyaka. Konak is a very active hub of industry, trade, commerce and services, with the number of companies exceeding sixty thousand and its exports nearing two billion US dollars in 2006.

Balçova is a municipality and district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Its area is 16 km2, and its population is 80,721 (2022). It covers the western part of the Greater Metropolitan Area of İzmir. Balçova is a fully urbanized at the rate of 100 percent. Balçova district area follows the southern coastline of the inner Gulf of İzmir, on the road to Çeşme and is at a distance of 8 km (5 mi) to the west from the traditional center of İzmir (Konak), which it borders on the east. Balçova district further neighbors the district area Narlıdere to the south and the west, both of its neighbors being among İzmir's metropolitan districts. Balçova district's overall levels of education are among the highest in Turkey, the literacy rate reaching 98 per cent, while the calculations for average yearly income per inhabitant situate it slightly below the national average, at 4.327 US Dollars, for which its open approach to outside immigration may have played a role. The overall appearance of Balçova leaves the impression of a locality where people are generally educated and who subsist on mid-revenues. The economy is largely based on commerce and tourism, its three shopping malls constituting the backbone for the first range of activities, and its thermal baths for the second. New housing projects putting Balçova's advantageous location to benefit and generally aimed at mid- to higher- income residents started to be built in recent years and as such, Balçova became in recent years one of İzmir's metropolitan districts where the economy grew the fastest. Balçova is home to İzmir University of Economics.

Bornova is a municipality and district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Its area is 220 km2, and its population is 454,470 (2022). It is the third largest district in İzmir's metropolitan area and is almost fully urbanized at the rate of 98.6 percent, with correspondingly high levels of development in terms of industry and services. Bornova's center is situated at a distance of 8 km (5 mi) to the northeast of the traditional center of İzmir and 5 km (3 mi) from the coastline at the tip of the Gulf of İzmir to the west. Bornova district area is surrounded by the district areas of Yunusemre and Menemen to the north, Kemalpaşa to the east, Buca to the south, and Konak and Karşıyaka to the west, where the larger part of İzmir's urban area extends. Bornova is home to Ege University's main campus and associated hospital, one of the largest and foremost medical centers in western Turkey.

The M1, also known as the Kaymakamlık–Evka 3 Line, is the only active line of the İzmir Metro in İzmir, Turkey. The 27 kilometres (17 mi) line runs from Kaymakamlık station in the west to Evka 3 station in the east, consisting of 24 stations. Construction of the first stage of line began in 1992 and was completed in 2000, consisting of 10 initial stations.

İzmir is a transportation hub for western Anatolia. İzmir has an extensive bus system, a developing metro, commuter rail system and a large urban ferry network. The city has highways connecting it to Çeşme, Menemen, Istanbul, Bursa and Aydın as well as a beltway. Mass transportation is operated by four separate public agencies all owned by the İzmir Municipality.

The Karşıyaka Cemetery is a modern burial ground located at Karşıyaka neighborhood in Yenimahalle district of Ankara Province, Turkey. Administered by the Metropolitan Municipality, it is the biggest cemetery in Ankara. Many prominent figures from the world of politics, business, sports and arts rest here.

Tesco has expanded its operations from the United Kingdom to 11 other countries. Tesco pulled out of the United States in 2013, but continues to see growth elsewhere. Tesco's international expansion strategy has responded to the need to be sensitive to local expectations in other countries by entering into joint ventures with local partners, such as Samsung Group in South Korea, and Charoen Pokphand in Thailand, appointing a very high proportion of local personnel to management positions. It also makes small acquisitions as part of its strategy: for example, in its 2005/2006 financial year it made acquisitions in South Korea, one in Poland and one in Japan.

Tram İzmir, alternatively known as İzmir Tram, is a tram network in İzmir, Turkey. Owned by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and operated by İzmir Metro A.Ş., the system consists of three lines: one in Karşıyaka, which opened on 11 April 2017, the in Konak, which opened on 24 March 2018 and the Çiğli Tram in Çiğli, which opened on 27 January 2024.

Kültür is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Konak, İzmir Province, Turkey. Its population is 8,234 (2022). It is a residential and commercial neighborhood, consisting of mostly medium-density apartments for upper-middle class to upper-class residents. Despite being a separate neighborhood, Kültür is commonly referred to as Alsancak as the official name of the neighborhood is used mainly in addresses or on official listings.

Ege Park Mavişehir Shopping Center was one of the first shopping centres in İzmir, Turkey. It is located in Karşıyaka, covering an area of 18.000 square metres (193.75 sq ft). It was opened on 20 November 1999 as EGS Park Mavişehir Shopping Centre by EGS Holding. This mall was operated by the Turkish clothing industrial company from İzmir EGS Holding from 1999 to 2006. But after the bankruptcy of EGS Holding in 2001 due to the economic crisis in Turkey, the management of the shopping center was transferred to Kâzım Pırlant, a businessman from İzmir living in the United States in 2006. This mall has 115 shops and 1 supermarket. This shopping center was transferred in 2006. The owner of this mall has opened another shopping center in Balçova in 2009.
