Lobito is a town and municipality in Benguela Province in Angola. It is located on the Atlantic Coast north of Catumbela Estuary.
The Benguela Railway, also called the Katanga-Benguela railway, is a Cape gauge railway line that runs through Angola from west to east, being the largest and most important modal of the type in the country. It also connects to Tenke in Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the Cape to Cairo Railway.

The club was founded in 1970 as Académica da Chilimba by Mr. Geraldo Guiado and a few associates. In 1981, a sponsoring deal with Angolan state-owned oil company Sonangol resulted in the club's name to be changed to the current designation.

Recreativo do Libolo won the tiebreaker based on head-to-head points.
