Lock Yue Chew is an associate professor in the School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University . [1] [ failed verification ] He works in Complex Systems, General Relativity, Quantum Chaos, Statistical and Nonlinear Physics, and has published several scientific papers. In 2004, he received his PhD in physics from the National University of Singapore. He also holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California. From 1991 to 1992, he worked as a communications engineer in Singapore Airlines. After that, he became the senior member of the technical staff at DSO National Laboratories and later he became and adjunct assistant professor there. Then in 2005, he moved to Nanyang Technological University as an assistant professor. [2] He is collaborating with many international research groups, he had coauthored some of the articles with M.I.T professor Kerson Huang. [3] He has co-authored several articles together with M. A. F. Sanjuán of the Rey Juan Carlos University. He has also co-authored an article in Scientific Reports on the topic of the short-term forecasting of Taiwanese earthquakes, using a Fusion-Fission processes model. [4]

Chew gave a TEDx talk in Nanyang Technological University on "The rationality of luck – chaos, randomness and information". [5] He had also appeared in the Nanyang Technological University video on the occasion of the Nanyang Award for Excellence in Teaching. [6]

The World Cultural Council had its 30th award ceremony on 2 October 2013 at Nanyang Auditorium, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The ceremony co-organized by host NTU was the opening event of the Times Higher Education World Academic Summit. The Hive, also known as Learning Hub South, is a building located in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The S$45 million building was designed by Thomas Heatherwick and completed in 2015. Colloquially, the building is known as the "dim sum basket building" due to its likeness to the steamer baskets used to contain dim sum.

Xavier Garbet is an theoretical plasma physicist and a professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He is currently appointed as the Temasek Chair in Clean Energy, as his professorship was established by a $6 million endowment from Singapore's state investment firm, Temasek Holdings. This appointment aims to support a magnetic confinement fusion research and manpower training program at NTU for clean energy development in Singapore.
