Lokesh Kumar Singhal is an Indian metallurgical engineer known for his expertise in steel making [1] and for the innovations he brought into the steelmaking industry in India. [2] He was honored by the Government of India in 2012 with the fourth highest Indian civilian award, the Padma Shri. [3]

Biography

Lokesh Kumar Singhal was born in February 1943 [4] and received his degree in engineering from Banares Hindu University, Varanasi. [1] In his postgraduate studies, he received a doctoral degree from the University of Oxford. [1] He has served a few notable steelmaking enterprises in India, such as Alloy Steel Plant in Durgapur of the Steel Authority of India as the head of the Research and Development, Tata Metals and Strips Limited, as the Chief Metallurgist of Navsari, and Salem Steel as the Assistant General Manager. He also worked in the Research and Development center of Steel Authority of India Limited as General Manager where he coordinated development of several special steels and high strength rails for which he received National Metallurgists' Day Award in 1987. He has also served as the Chairman and Managing Director of Mecon Limited, [1] wherein he contributed towards indigenous development of certain process technologies and the design development of plant equipment for the first time in the country. He received National Metallurgist-Industry award in 2008. He has worked for the boards of Hindustan Copper, NRDC, CMPDIL & Jindal Iron & Steel Company. During his tenure at Jindal Stainless Ltd., Singhal is known to have contributed to introduction of some process technologies for development of several high performance stainless steels which were earlier imported leading to saving of foreign currency [2] and several novel stainless steels developed by him have been exported in large tonnages. He has published 60 scientific papers, presented 50 conference papers and co-authored two books.

Kailash Chandra Meher is an Indian artist, inventor, and social activist. He is a painter of contemporary modern art paintings and traditional Tussar Pattachitra paintings of Odisha. He was a recipient of the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2013.

Chandrathil Gouri Krishnadas Nair is an Indian technocrat, teacher and metallurgical scientist known for his contributions in the field of aeronautical metallurgy. Dr Nair was given the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India for his contributions to science and technology in 2001.

A. S. Kiran Kumar

Aluru Seelin Kiran Kumar is an Indian space scientist and former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, having assumed office on 14 January 2015. He is credited with the development of key scientific instruments aboard the Chandrayaan-1 and Mangalyaan space crafts. In 2014, he was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the fields of science and technology. Thakur Vijay Pal Singh is an Indian scientist associated with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and is known for his contributions to the science of rice breeding. A post graduate and a doctoral degree (PhD) holder in Agriculture Botany from Agra University, he started his career as a research assistant at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi and is a professor at the ICAR sponsored Centre of Advanced Faculty Training in Agronomy. Singh is credited with a book, Responses of Irrigation Scheduling and I.N.M. on Scented Rice and several articles published in peer reviewed journals. Jitendra Kumar Singh

Dr. Jitendra Kumar Singh is an Indian oncologist, the ex director of Mahavir Cancer Institute & Research Centre and the president of Cancer Care India, the apex body for cancer support organizations in India. He was honored by the Government of India, in 2012, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.

Chaitanyamoy Ganguly is an Indian nuclear scientist and a former Head of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials Section of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), credited with many innovations in the field of nuclear material science. He was honored by the Government of India, in 2002, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.

Harsh Kumar Indian ophthalmologist

Harsh Kumar is an Indian ophthalmologist, who is reported to have described nine laser surgical procedures for glaucoma and anterior segment of which one procedure is cited by Shields Text Book of Glaucoma, a known reference book on glaucoma management. He is the director of Glaucoma Services at Centre for Sight, New Delhi and also serves at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi. He was honoured by the Government of India in 2015 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award.

Bal Raj Nijhawan, was an Indian metallurgist, author and the first Director of Indian origin of the National Metallurgical Laboratory, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). He was a recipient of Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, the highest Indian science award, which he received in 1964 in the Engineering sciences category. The Government of India honoured him in 1958, with the award of Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award for his services to the nation.

Devi Sahai Jindal was an Indian industrialist and the founder of the Jindal Group, a leading steel industrial group in India. Born in the village of Nalwa in Hisar district in Haryana to Netramji and Chandrawali Devi Jindal, Devi Sahai, along with his brother Bhavi Chand Jindal, founded a steel industrial company which grew over the years and is now split by business groups, DSJ Group, BCJ Group OPJ Group and DPJ Group. He was honoured by the Government of India in 1971 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award.

Prafulla Kumar Jena is an Indian metallurgist and a former director of the National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Bhubaneshwar. He previously held the TATA Chair for the Distinguished Professorof Metallurgical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. The Government of India honoured him with a Padma Shri in 1977.

Anil Kumar Lakhina is an Indian civil servant and a former Indian Administrative Service officer, known for his administrative reforms which has since come to be known as the Lakhina pattern. He is credited with the urban planning of Navi Mumbai, besides the commissioning of several other major projects. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest Indian civilian honour of Padma Shri in 1986.

Bisweswar Bhattacharjee is an Indian chemical engineer, multi-disciplinary scientist and a former director of the Chemical Engineering and Technology Group of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). He is a former project director of the Rare Materials Project, Mysore and a member of the Atomic Energy Commission of India. Bhattacharjee, a recipient of the civilian honour of the Padma Shri, is best known for his contributions in the development of gas centrifugal technology for the High Speed Rotors (HSR), used in the production of enriched Uranium and other strategic materials, at BARC.

Dipankar Banerjee is an Indian physical metallurgist, materials engineer and a former chief controller of R&D at the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). Known for his studies on titanium alloys, Banerjee is an elected fellow of all the three major Indian science academies namely Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and National Academy of Sciences, India as well as the Indian National Academy of Engineering. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards for his contributions to Engineering Sciences in 1993. He received the fourth highest Indian civilian honour of Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2005.

Madhu Mansuri Hasmukh is an Indian singer, songwriter and activist. He had written and sung several Nagpuri songs for movement of separate state Jharkhand. In 2011 Government of Jharkhand awarded him Jharkhand Ratna Award. In 2020, he received Padma Shri in field of Arts.
