Sobrante Ridge Regional Park, or simply Sobrante Ridge, is a regional park of the East Bay Regional Parks District in Richmond, California. It covers 277 acres (1.1 km2) and protects the extremely endangered Alameda Manzanita, a native plant of the area. The park has 2 1⁄2 miles (4.0 km) of trails.The endangered manzanita grow on 9 acres (0.036 km2).
Ryer Island an island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta in Solano County, California surrounded by Miner Slough and Steamboat Slough at their confluence with the Sacramento River, 6.5 miles north-northeast of Rio Vista. The 4,750 ha (11,700-acre) island is named in honor of a California pioneer, Dr. Washington M. Ryer, and his family. A map prepared at the time of statehood shows the area divided by the west fork of the Sacramento River, with the western half identified as Priest Island and the eastern half identified as Sutter Island.

Andrus Island is an island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta in Sacramento County, California, twenty kilometres northeast of Antioch. The 3,000-hectare (7,400-acre) island is bounded on the north, and northwest by the Sacramento River, on the west, Georgiana Slough, on the southeast, Mokelumne River, and San Joaquin River, on the southwest Jackson Slough, and Seven Mile Slough. The island is entirely within the bounds of the immense Rio Vista Gas Field, although well drilling pads and associated infrastructure make up only a small part of its land use, which is mainly agriculture.

Rancho Del Paso was a 44,371-acre (179.56 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Sacramento County, California given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Eliab Grimes. The grant extended along the north bank of the American River and was bounded roughly by today’s Northgate Boulevard, Manzanita Avenue, and Elkhorn Boulevard. The grant encompassed present-day North Sacramento, Del Paso Heights, Rio Linda, Arden-Arcade, and a portion of Carmichael.

The Manzanita Fire was a wildfire that burned south of the towns of Beaumont and Banning near Highway 79 in Riverside County, California during June 2017. The fire had consumed some 6,309 acres (2,553 ha) and was burning eastward towards the community of Poppet Flats and Highway 243. Fanned by Red Flag conditions, the Manzanita fire ignited from a traffic collision that grew to over 1,200 acres (490 ha) within several hours of burning. The communities of Poppet Flats, Silent Valley and Highland Springs were threatened for a time but no structural damage occurred during this incident. The fire was fully contained on Friday, June 30.
