Medak Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 17 Lok Sabha (Lower House of the Parliament) constituencies in Telangana state in southern India. [2] [3]

Overview

Since its inception in 1957 Medak seat is a Congress stronghold, various political outfits like the Telangana Praja Samithi, Bharatiya Janata Party and the Telugu Desam Party have won it during different general elections.

After the formation of Telangana Rashtra Samithi the seat has been won by four different candidates in three general elections including its founder and current Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrashekar Rao and actress Vijayashanti

The 2014 Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Legislative Assembly elections took place on 30 April and 7 May 2014 to elect members to the legislatures of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy is an Indian engineer, entrepreneur, and politician. He served as a Member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha from Bharat Rashtra Samithi representing Chevella, Telangana. He is the grandson of K. V. Ranga Reddy after whom the district Ranga Reddy was named.

The Indian state of Telangana was founded in 2014. Its territory had formerly been part of Andhra Pradesh. The Telangana movement was instrumental in the creation of the new state, and Telangana Rashtra Samithi, a party which led the Telangana movement after 2001, formed the government in the Telangana Legislative Assembly under Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. The political landscape of Telangana is dominated by the Indian National Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen being other significant forces.

Kotha Prabhakar Reddy is an Indian politician who won in 2014 a by-election held for the Medak being Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate. He won by a margin of 3,61,833 votes in the by-poll which was a major shock for the oppositions who had expected the ruling party to lose their seat after the TRS party head K. Chandrashekhar Rao had resigned from the seat after taking oath as the chief minister of the newly formed state Telangana.
