Terengganu, formerly spelled Trengganu or Tringganu, is a sultanate and constitutive state of federal Malaysia. The state is also known by its Arabic honorific, Dāru l-Īmān. Tengku Ampuan Hajah Bariah binti Almarhum Sultan Hisamuddin Alam Shah Al-Haj was the Tengku Ampuan Besar of Terengganu from 1979 to 1998 as the wife of Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah. She was the sister of late Sultan Selangor, Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah and the stepmother of the current Sultan Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.
Sultan Sulaiman Badrul Alam Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Zainal Abidin III was the fourteenth Sultan of Terengganu from 21 May 1920 to 25 September 1942.
