Moellendorffia is a gastropod mollusc genus of the family Camaenidae. [3] [4] [1] [5] Members of this genus appear only in East Asia, spanning north from Japan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Indonesia. [1]

The inshore hagfish is a hagfish found in the Northwest Pacific, from the Sea of Japan and across eastern Japan to Taiwan. It has six pairs of gill pouches and gill apertures. These hagfish are found in the sublittoral zone. They live usually buried in the bottom mud and migrate into deeper water to spawn. The Institute of Physicsof the Chinese Academy of Sciences was the result of a merger, after the communist took control of the mainland China in 1949, between the Institute of Physics of Academia Sinica (IOPAS) founded in Shanghai in 1928 and the Institute of Physics of National Academy of Peiping (IOPNAP) founded in Beiping in 1929.
