When the power of Cheras declined due to the rise of Hoysalas and western Chalukyas, the Venad (Travancore) Chieftains took advantage of the situation and gradually established their hold, on many areas of Nanjilnadu. The annexation commenced by Veera Kerala Varma was to a large extent continued by his successors and completed by 1115 A.D.

Kanyakumari Lok Sabha constituency Tamil: கன்னியாகுமரி is one of the 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu state in southern India. It was formed after the delimitation in 2008 by merging Kanyakumari assembly segment from the erstwhile Tiruchendur constituency with the erstwhile Nagercoil constituency. This happened to be the strongest constituency for the Congress party in the whole of India. But in recent years, BJP won in 2014 general elections and lost the seat in 2019 to Indian National Congress candidate. H. Vasanth kumar.
