Natatolana is a genus of crustaceans in the family Cirolanidae, first described by Niel L. Bruce in 1981. [1] [2] The type species is Cirolana hirtipes Milne Edwards, 1840. [2] [3]
It is found at depths of about 200 m, in waters off the coasts of all Australian states, and also the Australian territory of Ashmore and Cartier Islands. [3]

Sphaeromatidae is a family of isopods, often encountered on rocky shores and in shelf waters in temperate zones. The family includes almost 100 genera and 619 known marine species. Within these genera, there are groups that share distinctive morphologies; further research may reclassify these genus-groups as separate families.
The Cirolanidae are a family of isopod crustaceans, including these genera:
Cymothoida is the name of a suborder of isopod crustaceans with a mostly carnivorous or parasitic lifestyle. It contains more than 2,700 described species in four superfamilies. Members of the suborder are characterised by their specialised mouthparts which include a mandible with a tooth-like process which is adapted for cutting or slicing.
Gnathia is a genus of isopod crustaceans, containing the following species:
The Arcturidae are a family of marine isopod crustaceans in the suborder Valvifera. Members of the family resemble woodlice and are found globally in cooler areas in shallow seas.
Cirolana is a genus of isopod crustaceans.
Aega is a genus of isopods in the family Aegidae, containing the following species:
Elthusa is a genus of isopods in the family Cymothoidae, with 40 described species.
Antarcturidae is a family of marine isopods belonging to the suborder Valvifera.
Tridentella is a genus of crustaceans belonging to the monotypic family Tridentellidae.
Rocinela is a genus of isopods in the family Aegidae, and was first described in 1818 by William Elford Leach. The type species is Rocinela danmoniensis Leach, 1818.
Aegiochus is a genus of isopods in the family Aegidae, first described in 1885 by Carl Bovallius. The type species is Aega ventrosa.
Aatolana is a genus of isopod crustaceans in the family Cirolanidae, first described by Niel L. Bruce in 1993. The genus name is from the Greek, Aatos (insatiable), and refers to the ability of shrimp of this genus to devour fish carcasses. The type species is Aatolana rapax.
Aatolana schioedtei is a species of crustaceans in the family Cirolanidae, first described by Edward J. Miers in 1884 as Cirolana schioedtei. In 1993, Bruce reassigned the species to the genus, Aatolana.
Natatolana neglecta is a species of crustacean in the family Cirolanidae, and was first described by Hans Jacob Hansen in 1890 as Cirolana neglecta, It was redescribed as Natatolana neglecta by Stephen Keable and Niel L. Bruce in 1997.
Natatolana flexura is a species of crustacean in the family Cirolanidae, and was first described by Stephen John Keable in 2006.
Natatolana lilliput is a species of crustacean in the family Cirolanidae, and was first described by Stephen John Keable in 2006. The species epithet, lilliput, is from the Lilliput of Gulliver's Travels, and refers to the specie's short antennae.
Natatolana oculata is a species of crustacean in the family Cirolanidae, and was first described by Ernst Vanhöffen in 1914 as Cirolana oculata. It was redescribed as Natatolana oculata by Stephen Keable in 2006.
Dolicholana is a genus of isopod crustaceans. which was first described by Niel L. Bruce in 1986. The type species is Cirolana elongata Milne Edwards, 1840.
