New Cambria was named after Cambria County, Pennsylvania, the native home of an early settler. [4]
The first post office in New Cambria was established in June 1873. [5]

The 2020 United States census counted 106 people, 47 households, and 28 families in New Cambria. [9] [10] The population density was 595.5 per square mile (229.9/km2). There were 55 housing units at an average density of 309.0 per square mile (119.3/km2). [10] [11] The racial makeup was 82.08% (87) white or European American (82.08% non-Hispanic white), 0.0% (0) black or African-American, 0.0% (0) Native American or Alaska Native, 0.94% (1) Asian, 0.0% (0) Pacific Islander or Native Hawaiian, 0.0% (0) from other races, and 16.98% (18) from two or more races. [12] Hispanic or Latino of any race was 3.77% (4) of the population. [13]
Of the 47 households, 19.1% had children under the age of 18; 44.7% were married couples living together; 17.0% had a female householder with no spouse or partner present. 34.0% of households consisted of individuals and 10.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. [10] The average household size was 1.6 and the average family size was 3.2. [14] The percent of those with a bachelor’s degree or higher was estimated to be 1.9% of the population. [15]
17.9% of the population was under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 30.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39.0 years. There were 70 housing units at an average density of 318.2 per square mile (122.9/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 96.8% White, 0.8% Native American, and 2.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.8% of the population.
There were 56 households, of which 21.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% were married couples living together, 10.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 33.9% were non-families. 30.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.81.
The median age in the city was 46 years. 17.5% of residents were under the age of 18; 8.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 21.4% were from 25 to 44; 33.4% were from 45 to 64; and 19% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 51.6% male and 48.4% female.

The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 2.89.
