The OECS Track and Field Championships was an annual track and field competition between athletes representing one of the member states of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). This event started in 1986 and was first held at Queen's Park, in Grenada. The second was also held in Grenada and thereafter moved around the OECS until 1992. Under the auspices of the OECS Athletics Congress (OAC) the first edition of the revived OECS Track and Field Championships was held in St. Kitts in 2014. [1]

Grenada is an island country of the West Indies in the eastern Caribbean Sea. The southernmost of the Windward Islands, Grenada is directly south of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and about 100 miles north of Trinidad and the South American mainland.
Kirani James is a Grenadian professional sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. He won the 400 m at the World Championships in 2011, and the 2012 London Olympics. In the 400 metres, James also won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, thus becoming the first man to earn the full set of three medals in the centennial history of the event. He is Grenada's first and only Olympic medalist. He holds the Grenadian national record in both the 200 metres and 400 metres.
Jennifer Simpson is an American middle- and long-distance runner, formerly a steeplechaser. She won the gold medal in the 1500 meters at the 2011 World Championships, silvers at the 2013 and 2017 World Championships, and a bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, becoming the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in the event.
FIRST LEGO Challenge League Open Championships are robotics competitions held and managed by FIRST LEGO League Partners to bring FIRST LEGO League Challenge teams from many states, regions and countries together to compete in host cities around the world. These are the highest level of FIRST LEGO League competitions that are managed by organizations other than FIRST. The FIRST-managed global competition for FIRST LEGO League is the FLL World Festival. There are usually multiple Open Championships each year.
The USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships is an annual track and field competition organized by USA Track & Field, which serves as the American national championships for the sport. Since the year 1992, in the years which feature a Summer Olympics, World Athletics Championships, Pan American Games, NACAC Championships, or an IAAF Continental Cup, the championships serve as a way of selecting the best athletes for those competitions.
Rondell Bartholomew is a Grenadian track and field sprinter who specialises in the 400 metres. He has represented his country at two World Championships in Athletics and was a 400 m world finalist in 2011. His personal best for the event is 44.65 seconds.
Makeba Alcide is a Saint Lucian track and field athlete. She holds the Saint Lucia records and OECS records for women's 60m Hurdles, Pentathlon and Heptathlon, and the Saint Lucia record for 100m Hurdles.
Kanika Alana Beckles is a Trinidadian-born Grenadian sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. She represented Grenada at the 2012 Summer Olympics but did not start. She reached the semifinals of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, after missing large parts of the 2012 and 2013 seasons with a torn hamstring and ACL surgery. At the 2016 Summer Olympics she represented Grenada but placed fifth in her heat with a time 52.41 Seconds and with an overall ranking of 32nd. She did not advance to the semifinals.
Emily Infeld is an American long-distance runner. She regularly competes in the 5000 m and 10,000 m distances during her professional career; in her college career she regularly competed in the 4 × 800 meter relay and 1500 m on up to 5000 m.
Courtney Frerichs is an American middle-distance runner and steeplechase specialist from Nixa, Missouri, She is a three-time silver medalist in the 3000 meters steeplechase capturing silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, the 2017 World Championships in London and at the 2018 World (Continental) Cup in Ostrava. In 2021, she became the first American woman to run under nine-minutes in a women’s 3000-meters steeplechase event with a time of 8:57.77; establishing an American and Area record. She is a two-time Olympian making the US team in 2016 and 2020. In both of her Olympic Trials she finished second to US National Champion, Emma Coburn.
Lindon Victor is a Grenadian athlete who competes in the decathlon. He is the 2023 World bronze medalist and a two-time Commonwealth Games champion (2018–2022).
Anderson Peters is a Grenadian javelin thrower and the 2019 and 2022 world champion in the event. He is a multiple time CARIFTA Games champion at the discipline and in 2016 earned a bronze medal at the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, setting a new Grenadian national record and OECS record at the same time.
Meleni Rodney, OLY is a Grenadian sprinter who specialises in the 400 metres.
Kenisha Pascal is a Grenadian middle- and long-distance runner. She set the Grenadian national record for the half marathon in 2003 with a time of 2:14.18. After winning three Gold and one Silver medal at the 2016, Kenisha was awarded the Veda Bruno Award for most outstanding female at the OECS Championship. On 4 November 2018 Kenisha won the second leg of the South American 10K which was held in Guyana.
Amanda Crawford is an American-born, Grenadian sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. In 2016, she represented Grenada at the CARIFTA Games and earned a silver medal in the 400m, in the under-18 girls' category. She was also a part of the women's 4X400m Relay team which secured a silver medal at the 2016 OECS Track & Field Championships with teammates Meleni Rodney, Kenisha Pascal and Kanika Beckles.
Christopher Javaughn Alexis Jr. is a Grenadian road cyclist who is the 2016 Grenada Cycling Federation’s (GCF) National Cycling Champion.
The 10th NACAC U18 and U23 Championships in Athletics were held in Queretaro, Mexico from July 5–7, 2019. It was the first time that an U18 competition was added to the event alongside the U23 category.
Halle Michelle Hazzard is a Grenadian sprinter and sister of Grenadian sprinter Payton Hazzard. She made her competitive debut for Grenada at the 2017 CARIFTA Games, where she earned a Silver medal and as well as a Bronze Medal in the 200m and 100m respectively. She then went to Grenada to compete in the 3rd OECS Track And Field Championships. At this meet she was able to secure two Bronze medals. One in the Women 100 Meter Dash OECS with a time of 11.76 seconds and another as part of Grenada's 4 × 100 m relay team which included Chelsea Mitchell, Jonair Thomas and Amanda Crawford. On 14 February Halle broke the Grenadian 60m at the Tiger Paw Invite. She surpassed her UVA record-setting run of 7.31 from the week prior three times during the meet. She ran a time of 7.27 during the prelims before dropping the time in the semifinals with a 7.24 run. She closed the day with a time of 7.30 in the finals to finish fifth in the event. Her time ranks second in the ACC and 13th in the NCAA. Hazzard also captured a career-best time in the 200m dash. Her time of 23.79 ranks second in school history. She further lowered that time to 23.45 seconds in the prelims of the 2021 ACC Indoor Championships and moved to the #1 all time in the event for her school.
