Athletics at the ALBA Games

Athletics competitions have been held at the biennial ALBA Games since the inaugural edition 2005 in Havana, Cuba. The Games are not only open for the member federations of the ALBA, but also for athletes from other nations.[ citation needed ]

The 16th Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships were held in the Estadio Rafael Hernández Ochoa in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico, between 25–27 June 2004. The games were originally planned to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador. However, they were relocated to the state of Veracruz in Mexico in early 2004. Both cities of Xalapa and Coatzacoalcos were applicants. A discussion of the results is given.

The 13th Pan American Junior Athletics Championships were held in Windsor, Ontario at the University of Windsor Stadium on July 29–31, 2005.

The 18th South American Youth Championships in Athletics were held in Caracas, Venezuela from October 14–15, 2006. The event was relocated from the Estadio Pueblo Nuevo in San Cristóbal, Táchira, Venezuela, because the renovation of the stadium for the Copa América de Fútbol 2007 was not yet completed. A detailed report on the results was given.

The 1st South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, at the Polideportivo Máximo Viloria on June 26–27, 2004.

The 2nd South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the Centro Nacional de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo (CeNARD) on November 10–12, 2006. The championships were held as a part of the 2006 South American Games (ODESUR). A detailed report on the results was given.

Athletics competitions at the 2006 Central American Games were held at the Estadio Olímpico del Instituto Nicaragüense de Juventud y Deporte in Managua, Nicaragua, between March 4-7, 2006.

The 18th Central American Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica, between June 8-9, 2007.

The 17th Central American Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica, between June 3–4, 2005.

The 16th Central American Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio de Atletismo del Instituto Nicaragüense de Deportes in Managua, Nicaragua, between September 25–26, 2004.

The 15th Central American Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala, between June 20-21, 2003.

The Central American and Caribbean Cross Country Championships was an annual Cross country running competition organized by the CACAC for athletes representing the countries of its member associations. The competition was established in 1983 following a proposal of Wallace Williams from the Virgin Islands, then secretary of the CACAC. The rationale was that also smaller countries without adequate athletics' facilities could host such an event. The approval for the competitions' implementation was given during the 1982 CACAC meeting in Havana. The first championships were to take place in 1983 on the Virgin Islands, but because of the US invasion of Grenada, the event was postponed and relocated to Puerto Rico.

The 2005 Central American Junior and Youth Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio de Atletismo del Instituto Nicaragüense de Deportes in Managua, Nicaragua, between May 21–22, 2005. Organized by the Central American Isthmus Athletic Confederation (CADICA), it was the 18th edition of the Junior (U-20) and the 13th edition of the Youth (U-18) competition. A total of 80 events were contested, 40 by boys and 40 by girls. Overall winner on points was  Costa Rica.

The 2004 Central American Junior and Youth Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica, between June 11–12, 2004. Organized by the Central American Isthmus Athletic Confederation (CADICA), it was the 17th edition of the Junior (U-20) and the 12th edition of the Youth (U-18) competition. A total of 84 events were contested, 43 by boys and 41 by girls. Overall winner on points was  Costa Rica.

The 2002 South American Race Walking Championships were held in Puerto Saavedra, Chile, on September 14–15, 2002. The event was also known as South American Race Walking Cup.

These are the results of the athletics competition at the 2005 Bolivarian Games which took place between August 18 and August 21, 2005, in Armenia, Colombia. The results were assembled from various sources.

José Francisco Nava is a Chilean former track and field athlete who competed in the pole vault. He achieved his personal best of 5.35 m in 2003. He also competed, less frequently, in the long jump, triple jump and decathlon.
