Pimelodella is a genus of three-barbeled catfishes.
Pimelodella is the largest genus in the family. However, it is in need of taxonomic revision. [1]
This genus is found on both sides of the Andes, ranging from Panama to Paraguay and southern Brazil. [1] With the exception of P. chagresi, all members of the genus are restricted to South America. This genus includes two species of troglobitic catfishes, P. kronei and P. spelaea. [1]
There are currently 81 recognized species in this genus: [2]
