Radio City is India's first private FM radio station and was started on 3 July 2001 by Star TV Network. [1] [2] It broadcasts on 91.1 (earlier 91.0 in most cities) megahertz from Bengaluru (started first in 2001), Mumbai (where it was started in 2003), Lucknow and New Delhi (since 2003). It plays Hindi, English and regional songs. It was launched in Hyderabad in March 2006, in Chennai on 7 July 2006 and in Visakhapatnam October 2007. Radio City recently forayed into New Media in May 2008 with the launch of a music portal - PlanetRadiocity.com now radiocity.in that offers entertainment related news, videos, songs, podcasts and other music-related features. The Radio station currently plays a mix of music from various languages. In 2010, Radio City launched its first internet radio station Radio City Fun Ka Antenna and now they have 18 online radio stations.

Radio City Super Singer

Radio City Super Singer is a singing talent hunt by Radio City to discover the singing talent among its listeners. It was launched in 2011 in 14 cities - Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Nagpur, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Visakhapatnam, Coimbatore and Pune. [3]

Radio City School of Broadcasting

Radio City School of Broadcasting (RCSB) is an autonomous educational unit, instituted by Music Broadcast Limited (MBL) which owns and operates Radio City 91.1FM. It was launched on 3 February 2009. They offer a 6-month Certificate Course in Radio Jockeying and Radio Production. [4]

Acquisition by Jagran Group

On 16 December 2014, media group Jagran Prakashan Limited (JPL) announced acquisition of Music Broadcast Ltd, which operates the Radio City FM stations from Indian Private Equity firm True North (Formerly known as India Value Fund Advisor). [6] Music Broadcast Ltd publicly listed its shares on 17 March 2017. The shares listed at a 26% premium above its issue price of Rs. 333/-. [7]

Radio City Freedom Awards

Radio City Freedom Awards are a set of awards presented annually to recognize and honor independent music across genres like Hip-Hop, Folk Fusion, Pop, Rock, Metal and Electronica. It is an open competition that is not restricted to any specific language or region. Its aim is to promote fresh talent and encourage diverse music genres across the globe. The first Radio City Freedom Awards was held on 30 May 2013 in Mumbai. The jury for the awards consisted of Atul Churamani, MIDIval Punditz, Luke Kenny, Yotam Agam & Nandini Srikar. [8]

Although advertising was limited, Win 94.6 FM was the home of a few popular radio jockeys. It was indeed the "No.1 Radio Station In Mumbai." Their punchline was "Hit pe hit pe hit." AIR FM Gold is an FM radio channel in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai, India. It is run by the All India Radio, a government owned enterprise, a division of Prasar Bharati. In Mumbai, it features Hindi songs, and English songs along with hourly news in English and Hindi. It operates on 100.1 in Mumbai and on 100.1 Megahertz in Delhi. It was started on 15 August 2001 by the then Minister of Information & Broadcasting.

AIR FM Rainbow is a group of FM radio channels across India. The group of stations was previously called FM Metro, but the name was changed to FM Rainbow in 2002. The group is run by All India Radio, or AIR, a government owned enterprise. It features Hindi and regional language songs, while also playing English music and providing hourly news in English, regional language and/or Hindi. In Bhopal, FM Rainbow broadcasts in Hindi to more than 12 districts of Madhya Pradesh and 21 Bhopal City suburbs. AIR FM Rainbow Delhi airs in as many as ten cities, more than any of the other FM Rainbow frequencies. Mumbai, Lucknow, Vizag, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Kochi and Bangalore all receive FM Rainbow transmissions on a variety of frequencies.

The FM broadcasting in India began in 1977; growing popularity after 2001 when the privatisation of FM broadcasting began. AIR's FM LRS was inaugurated on 1 July 2000 at 06:00 in Kodaikanal relaying Madurai programs in the frequency 100.5 MHz. 100.5 was so popular that LRS was upgraded to an FM Channel in just two months. The channel covered a radius of about 200 km (120 mi) due to its location at 2200 meters above MSL at Kodaikanal. KODAI FM is popularly known as it is the biggest individual FM channel in India, in both area coverage and listenership.

The Indian Government is undertaking several initiatives to upgrade its aging railway infrastructure and enhance its quality of service. The Railway Ministry has announced plans to invest 5,400,000 crore to upgrade the railways by 2030. Upgrades include 100% electrification of railways, upgrading existing lines with more facilities and higher speeds, expansion of new lines, upgrading railway stations, introducing and eventually developing a large high-speed train network interconnecting major cities in different parts of India and development of various dedicated freight corridors to cut down cargo costs within the country.

Radio broadcasting began in India in 1922. The Government owned radio station All India Radio dominated broadcasting since 1936 but through privatization and deregulation has allowed commercial privately owned talk and music stations to reach large audiences.

Radio Nasha is an Indian regional radio station under the HT Media Group based in New Delhi, India. It broadcasts Indian retro music, predominantly from the 1970s to the 1990s. It also broadcasts talk shows featuring various Bollywood celebrities. Radio Nasha 107.2 FM was originally launched in Delhi in March 2016, and expanded to Mumbai with Radio Nasha 91.9 FM in April of the same year. After few years later Radio Nasha became available in Kolkata as 94.3 FM Radio Nasha instead of 94.3 FM Radio One.
