Roundtable is a pro-Beijing political organisation founded in 2017 by Michael Tien after he quit the New People's Party. The group currently holds one seat in the Legislative Council,occupied by Michael Tien,and seven seats in the District Councils. [1]
The organization was founded after Tien complained that the New People's Party was becoming too close to Beijing. [2] [3]
Although it is aligned with the pro-Beijing camp,Roundtable has found itself at odds the camp on certain issues. One such example is when Tien supported scrapping the pro-Beijing extradition law. [4] Another example is when he supported an independent inquiry into police abuses. The group has been considered one of the more moderate members of the pro-Beijing camp. [5]

The pro-Beijing camp,pro-establishment camp or pro-China camp is a political alignment in Hong Kong which generally supports the policies of the Beijing central government and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) towards Hong Kong. The term "pro-establishment camp" is regularly in use to label the broader segment of the Hong Kong political arena which has the closer relationship with the establishment,namely the governments of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Pro-Beijing politicians are labeled "patriots" by pro-Beijing media and "loyalists" by the rival pro-democracy camp.

Holden Chow Ho-ding is a Hong Kong solicitor and politician. He was elected to the Legislative Council of Hong Kong in 2016,through the District Council (Second) "super seat". He was re-elected in 2021 through the New Territories North West geographical constituency.
Conservatism in Hong Kong derives from the Chinese tradition of familism and Confucianism and was incorporated into the colonial government's policies by Governor Cecil Clementi in the 1920s in the wake of rising Marxism–Leninism and communism in general. The anti-communist sentiments continued after the Second World War when waves of Chinese refugees fled to the colony as the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) swept across Mainland China in the renewed Chinese Civil War. At this time,Conservatives supported the Republic of China (ROC),and were pro–Kuomintang (KMT). After the de facto end of the Chinese Civil War in 1949 when the ROC government fled to Taiwan and throughout the Cold War,Conservatives have also taken libertarian thoughts on economic policies.

The Sixth Legislative Council of Hong Kong was the sixth meeting of the legislative branch of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Running from 1 October 2016 to 31 December 2021,it was the longest legislative session in Hong Kong history,lasted for five years and three months. The term of the session was originally from 1 October 2016 to 30 September 2020,but was extended by the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) due to the postponement of the 2020 Legislative Council election.
The 2019 Hong Kong District Council elections were held on 24 November 2019 for all 18 District Councils of Hong Kong. 452 seats from all directly elected constituencies,out of the 479 seats in total,were contested. Nearly three million people voted,equivalent to 71 per cent of registered voters,an unprecedented turnout in the electoral history of Hong Kong. The election was widely viewed as a de facto referendum on the concurrent anti-extradition protests.
