Shawnee Slopes is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bounded to the south by James McKevitt Road, to the east by Macleod Trail, to the north by Fish Creek Provincial Park and to the west by Evergreen Street SW.

It was named for the Shawnee native people. Shawnee Slopes is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillors. [1]

Shawnee Slopes Golf Course

The Shawnee Slopes Golf Course was developed in the center of the community and was primary amenity for residents and the general public. On 13 June 2011, it was announced that the golf course would permanently close to the public on 2 October 2011. [3] In February 2013, the city council approved the redevelopment of the golf course lands to add 1,400 homes to the community. [4] This community is closely connected with the first-built, the northern section of the neighbouring Evergreen community. Shawnee and this part of Evergreen share the same community association, while the rest of Evergreen is independent.

Demographics

In the City of Calgary's 2012 municipal census, Shawnee Slopes had a population of 1,565 living in 866 dwellings, a 2.4% increase from its 2011 population of 1,529. [5] With a land area of 1.2 km2 (0.46 sq mi), it had a population density of

Residents had a median household income of $106,379 in 2005, with 3.4% of the residents living in low income households. In 2006, 26.9% of residents were immigrants. 12.9% of the buildings were condominiums or apartments and 1.6% of the housing was used for renting. [2] [ needs update ]

Bridlewood is a suburban residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located at the southwestern edge of the city, north of Stoney Trail and south of the community of Evergreen. To the east it borders the Bridlewood Creek Wetland, a wetland created by the City of Calgary as a stormwater retention pond. The Spruce Meadows equestrian facility is located immediately south.

Country Hills is a residential neighbourhood in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by the Country Hills Boulevard, to the south by Beddington Trail, and to the east by Harvest Hills Boulevard. To the southwest, it is bordered by the Country Hills golf course which began construction in 1989 and opened in 1992. The clubhouse along with the fully developed course opened in 1999. the area is also bordered by the West Nose Creek. The new community of Country Hills Village is located in the northeast of the neighbourhood. Country Hills is a generally calm and quiet area.

It is bounded by Anderson Road to the north, Macleod Trail to the east, Fish Creek Provincial Park and Canyon Meadows Drive to the south and 14 Street W to the west. The Canyon Meadows golf course is developed northwest of the neighbourhood.

Windsor Park is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by 50 Avenue S to the north, Macleod Trail to the east, 58 Avenue S to the south and the Calgary Golf & Country Club and Elbow River to the west. Chinook Centre is located southeast of the neighbourhood.

It is bounded by Deerfoot Trail to the east, by Beddington Trail to the south, by Country Hills Boulevard to the north and by Harvest Hills Boulevard to the west. The community contains a lake. The Harvest Hills golf course, shut down in early 2016 with demolition planned for late 2016 and early 2017, is in the process of redevelopment to add additional housing options in the northeast corner of the community.
