Hidden Valley is a residential neighbourhood in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located close to the northern edge of the city and is bordered by Stoney Trail to the north, Beddington Trail to the east, Country Hills Boulevard to the south, and Shaganappi Trail to the west. The neighbourhood contains one elementary school, two middle schools, and a small shopping centre. The Hidden Valley Community Association runs multiple annual events for Hidden Valley residents, including pumpkin carving contests and Easter egg hunts.

Hidden Valley was the vicinity of a double homicide in July 2018. [3]

Demographics

In the City of Calgary's 2012 municipal census, Hidden Valley had a population of 11,799 living in 3,867 dwellings, a 1.2% increase from its 2011 population of 11,657. [5] With a land area of 4.3 km2 (1.7 sq mi), it had a population density of

Residents in this community had a median household income of $78,127 in 2000, and there were 6.4% low-income residents living in the neighbourhood. [7] As of 2000, 20.6% of the residents were immigrants. All buildings were single-family detached homes, and 2.1% of the housing was used for renting. [2]

Education

The community is served by public schools Hidden Valley Elementary (K-3), Valley Creek Middle (4-9), Crescent Heights High (10-12) and Catholic schools St. Elizabeth Seton (K-9), and Notre Dame High School (10-12), with the Hidden Valley, Valley Creek, and St. Elizabeth Seton being located directly within the neighbourhood itself.

Politics

Hidden Valley covered by the Provincial Electoral District Calgary-Beddington represented in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta by Amanda Chapman of the Alberta New Democratic Party. [8]

The 33-acre (130,000 m2) man-made Sundance Lake was constructed in the middle of the community, and residents have easy access to the public beach of Sikome Lake.

Country Hills is a residential neighbourhood in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by the Country Hills Boulevard, to the south by Beddington Trail, and to the east by Harvest Hills Boulevard. To the southwest, it is bordered by the Country Hills golf course which began construction in 1989 and opened in 1992. The clubhouse along with the fully developed course opened in 1999. the area is also bordered by the West Nose Creek. The neighborhood is often mistaken with Country Hills Estates which lies to the south between Country Hills Golf Club and Beddington Trail which was developed a decade earlier. The new community of Country Hills Village is located in the northeast of the neighbourhood. Country Hills is a generally calm and quiet area.

Tuxedo Park is a residential neighbourhood in the northeast and northwest quadrants of Calgary, Alberta. The inner city community is bounded to the north by 32 Avenue N, by Edmonton Trail to the east, the Trans-Canada Highway to the south and 2 Street NW to the west. The community is bisected by Centre Street from north to south.

Douglasdale is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by 114 Avenue S to the north, 130 Avenue S to the south, Deerfoot Trail to the east and the Bow River to the west. The Fish Creek Provincial Park borders the neighbourhood to the west. Douglasglen is located in the northern area, north of Deerfoot Trail.

Chaparral is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located at the southern edge of the city, south of the Stoney Trail. To the east it is bordered by the Bow River Valley, to the south by 194 Avenue SE, and to the west by Macleod Trail. It has three sub sections that are not officially recognized, Lake Chaparral, Chaparral Valley, and Chaparral Ridge.

Centre Street runs through the neighbourhood.
