Palakkad District, in the southeastern part of the former Malabar district, is one of the 14 districts of the Indian state of Kerala. It is located right in the middle of the state. Also, it is the largest district in Kerala since 2006. The city of Palakkad is the district headquarters. Palakkad is bordered on the northwest by the Malappuram District, on the southwest by the Thrissur District, on the northeast by Nilgiris District, and on the east by Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. The district is nicknamed "the granary of Kerala". Palakkad is the gateway to Kerala due to the presence of the Palakkad Gap, in the Western Ghats. The 2,383 m high Anginda peak, which is situated in the border of Palakkad district, Nilgiris district, and Malappuram district, in Silent Valley National Park, is the highest point of elevation in Palakkad district. Palakkad city is located just 50 km away from Coimbatore, a major city in Tamil Nadu state.

The Kunthipuzha River is a waterway located in the state of Kerala, India. It flows through the Silent Valley National Park. This river is also called as Thuthapuzha by the local population. Kunthipuzha is one of the main tributaries of the Bharathapuzha River, the second-longest river in Kerala. In Mannarkkad region this river is called as Kunthipuzha, while when it reaches Malappuram- Palakkad border, locals call it as Thuthapuzha, after a border town, Officially the river is Kunthipuzha

The Silent Valley National Park and the Attappadi Reserve Forest are located in Mannarkkad Taluk. Mannarkkad is situated 36 km away from district headquarters Palakkad on Palakkad-Kozhikode National Highway.

Peechi Dam thrissur is situated 22 km (14 mi) outside Thrissur city in Kerala, India. The dam was started as an irrigation project for the surrounding villages in Thrissur. At the same time, it catered the drinking water needs of the population of Thrissur City. It serves as an irrigation dam, reaching out to the paddy fields in and around Thrissur city. Built across the Manali River, the dam has a catchment area of nearly 3,200 acres (1,300 ha). Elephants may be seen on the bank of Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1958 covering 125 square kilometres (48 sq mi).
Vellithuruthi Thazhathu Karutha Patteri Raman Bhattathiripad (1896–1982), popularly known as V. T. Bhattathiripad or simply V. T., was an Indian social reformer, dramatist and an Indian independence activist. He was best known for his contributions in the reformation of the casteism and conservatism that existed in the Namboothiri community. He wrote a number of books which include a play, Adukkalayail Ninnu Arangathekku and his autobiography, Kanneerum Kinavum and many critics consider them as notable works in Malayalam literature. Kerala Sahitya Akademi honoured him with distinguished fellowship in 1976.

Kunnamthanam is a village in Pathanamthitta district in the state of Kerala, India. Kunnamthanam organized mass yoga practise with 5,000 people. It is one of the nine villages that form Mallapally Taluk of Pathanamthitta district. The main junction at Kunnamthanam is a major T-junction, as it is situated almost midway between Mallappally and Thiruvalla, at the center of a quadrilateral with Changanacherry and Karukachal as the other two vertices. Famous Madthilkavu Bhagavathi temple and St. Mary's Sehion Orthodox Church are situated in Kunnamthanam. NSS High School is the oldest school in this village.

Mount Carmel Convent Anglo-Indian Girls High School is an English-medium all-through school in Tangasseri, Kollam District in Kerala, India. Ponnani Lighthouse is situated in Ponnani, Malappuram district, Kerala on the south bank of the Bharathappuzha river. It was commissioned on 17 April 1983. The tower has a circular cross-section and a height of 30 meters. The light source is a metal halide lamp. The lighthouse has direct drive facility. The Ponnani port is located on the estuary of River Bharathappuzha and Tirur River.
