George Washington is a life-size marble statue of George Washington by the English sculptor Sir Francis Chantrey created in 1826 and dedicated in November 1827. It depicts Washington as a Roman Senator and is in Doric Hall of the Massachusetts State House in Boston, Massachusetts. [1] [2] [3]
The 1826 marble statue of George Washington by Sir Francis Chantrey was the first to be placed in the State House.
Unveiled in Doric Hall of the Massachusetts State House in November 1827, it was the first sculpture to be placed in the then new State House and the first full-sized marble statue in New England.
