TVN (Total Variety Network; stylized as tvN) is a South Korean nationwide general entertainment network owned by CJ E&M, available on cable, SkyLife and IPTV platforms. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] Since 2014, the network is headed by Rhee Myung-han  [ ko ].

South Korea Republic in East Asia

South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (ROK), is a country in East Asia, constituting the southern part of the Korean Peninsula and lying to the east of the Asian mainland. The name Korea is derived from Goguryeo which was one of the great powers in East Asia during its time, ruling most of the Korean Peninsula, Manchuria, parts of the Russian Far East and Inner Mongolia, under Gwanggaeto the Great. South Korea lies in the north temperate zone and has a predominantly mountainous terrain. It comprises an estimated 51.4 million residents distributed over 100,363 km2 (38,750 sq mi). Its capital and largest city is Seoul, with a population of around 10 million.

<i>KBS News 9</i> main newscast that airs on KBS1

KBS Nine O'Clock News is the flagship newscast aired on KBS1 every night at 9:00pm KST. The program is seen across South Korea, as well as on KBS World service which provides headline tickers in English throughout the newscast. The newscast has news, sports, weather, health, society, as well as other topics. It first premiered on May 22, 1973.

TV series

tvN dramas are exported to various countries in Asia and the Americas. tvN's highest-rated TV series are Reply 1988 and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God . Reply 1988 received both critical and audience acclaim with its finale episode recording an 18.8% nationwide audience share, making it the highest rated drama in Korean cable television history. [6] [7] In addition, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God was also a hit and consistently topped cable television viewership ratings in its time slot. Its final episode recorded an 18.680% nationwide audience share according to Nielsen paid platform, making the episode the second highest rated in Korean cable television history. [8] It received critical acclaim and became a cultural phenomenon in South Korea. [9]

<i>Reply 1988</i> 2015 South Korean television series

Reply 1988 is a South Korean television series starring Lee Hye-ri, Park Bo-gum, Go Kyung-pyo, Ryu Jun-yeol and Lee Dong-hwi. Set in the year 1988, it revolves around five friends and their families living in the same neighborhood of Ssangmun-dong, Dobong District, Northern Seoul. It aired every Friday and Saturday from November 6, 2015, to January 16, 2016, on tvN for 20 episodes.

<i>Guardian: The Lonely and Great God</i> 2016 South Korean TV series

Guardian: The Lonely and Great God is a South Korean television series starring Gong Yoo in the title role with Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook, Yoo In-na, and Yook Sung-jae. It was shown on the cable network tvN from December 2, 2016, to January 21, 2017.

Currently, tvN dramas hold 32 spots of the 43 on the list of highest-rated Korean dramas in cable television.
