Tarkishore Prasad (born 5 February 1956) is an Indian politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party who served as the 5th Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar from 16 November to 9 August 2022.He held the portfolios of Finance & Commercial Taxes along with Urban Development and Housing. [2] [3] He has been elected the BJP's leader in the Bihar assembly. [4] He is currently elected as a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Katihar constituency in 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. [5]

Early life and education

Tarkishore Prasad Bhagat was born to Ganga Prasad Bhagat, representing the Kalwar caste (Bhagat) In 1956, Tarkishore completed Intermediate of Science from Darshan Sah College in Katihar under Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga. [6]

Political career

Prasad is a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and began his political career with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. He won his first assembly term in 2005 from Katihar seat, defeating Ram Prakash Mahato by just 165 votes. [7] He later won the seat in 2010, 2015 and 2020 elections as well.

Mewalal Chaudhary was a leader of Janata Dal (United) and a minister for a brief period of time in the Nitish Kumar's cabinet. He was elected from the Tarapur assembly constituency to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2020, and was made a minister in charge of Education in the Bihar Government. However, he had to resign just three days after his appointment, amidst row over his alleged involvement in a corruption case, for which he was booked earlier. Though Nitish Kumar from Janata Dal (United) is the Chief Minister of this government, Rashtriya Janata Dal was the largest party in this alliance. On 28 January 2024, he walked out of the INDIA (alliance) and announced his resignation. He then decided to form a new government in Bihar along with the BJP's NDA alliance.

Kedar Prasad Gupta is an Indian politician. He belongs to the Kanu caste of Bihar. He won the Kurhani Assembly constituency of Bihar Legislative Assembly on December 8, 2022 in the by-election. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

He became an active member of Sangh in 1989, and in 1990 election to Bihar Assembly, he was elected for the first time.
