Renu Devi (born 1 November 1959) is an Indian politician who served as the 7th Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar from 16 November 2020 to 9 August 2022.
She became the fifth female Deputy Chief Minister of India from Bihar in 2020. [2] A former national vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party,she is currently a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and the formerly deputy legislative leader of party for the National Democratic Alliance. Renu,eldest of her parents' three sons and five daughters,comes from the Noniya caste,an extremely backward Class (EBC) community. [9] She completed secondary school education in 1977 from the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University.[ citation needed ]
She was married to a Kolkata-based insurance inspector named Durga Prasad in 1973. [10] However,the sudden death of her husband within seven years of marriage made her return to Bettiah,her mother's hometown,and pursue it as her karmabhoomi. [11] She is a single parent with two children.
Renu Devi's mother was associated with the Sangh Parivar,which is said to have strongly influenced her. [12] Renu Devi was also part of Durga Vahini,the women's wing of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. [13]
Beginning her political career through social activism in 1981,she later joined the BJP Mahila Morcha or BJP women's wing in 1988. Next year,she was given the responsibility to head the wing in the Champaran region. She was further chosen as the wing's state head for two terms,in 1993 and 1996. [14]
Though she unsuccessfully contested her first election in 1995 from the Nautan Assembly seat,she was successful in being elected four times from Bettiah (2000–2015;2020–present),another division of West Champaran district,to the Bihar Legislative Assembly. She lost 2015 elections to a Mahagathbandhan candidate from whom she recovered the seat again in 2020.
She served as the Minister of Sports,Arts and Culture in the Bihar State Government between 2005 and 2009. She was also a national vice-president of the BJP between 2014 and 2020,and was nominated as a member of the National Working Committee of the party by Amit Shah. Janata Dal (United) ("People’s Party (United)"),abbreviated as JD(U),is an Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. JD(U) is recognised as a state party in the states of Bihar and Manipur and is a part of government in both the states. JD(U) heads the government in Bihar and is part of the NDA government in Manipur. JD(U) won 12 seats in the 2024 Indian general election,making it the seventh largest party in the Lok Sabha. JD(U) states that they believe in promoting social justice and lifting up marginalized peoples.

He was appointed the Chairman of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers for the Implementation of Goods and Service Tax in July 2011.
Raghunath Jha was an Indian politician who was Union minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprise and member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Bettiah constituency of Bihar and was a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) political party. Born in Village Amba Ojha Tola,in Sheohar He started his career by becoming the Mukhiya of his home panchayat in the year 1967. Thereafter,in 1967 he became Chairman of Zila Parishad. He started his legislative career in 1972 when he was elected as a MLA on Congress Ticket. He was elected from Sheohar for a record six consecutive terms before 1998. He was twice elected as a Member of Parliament from Gopalganj and Bettiah respectively.
Rajiv Ranjan Singh also known as Lalan Singh is an Indian politician who is serving as 11th Minister of Panchayati Raj,and 3rd Minister of Fisheries,Animal Husbandry and Dairying since 2024. Upendra Kumar Singh,commonly known as Upendra Kushwaha is an Indian politician,and a former Member of Bihar Legislative Council and Bihar Legislative Assembly. He has also served as Minister of State for Human Resources and Development in the Government of India. Kushwaha is a former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district,Bihar,and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. He was the leader of Rashtriya Samata Party (RSP),his own party,which merged into Janata Dal (United) (JDU) in 2009. Later,he formed Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP),which also merged with JD(U) in 2021. On 20 February 2023,Kushwaha resigned from all positions in Janata Dal (United) and formed his own party called Rashtriya Lok Morcha due to his political problems with JD(U) and Nitish Kumar.
Jitan Ram Manjhi is an Indian politician,serving as the Minister of Micro,Small and Medium Enterprises since 2024. He is currently a Member of Parliament from Gaya constituency and was Bihar's 23rd Chief Minister from 20 May 2014 to 20 February 2015. He was the founding President of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM).
