Taymir Burnet (born 1 October 1992) is a Dutch sprinter. He has competed at multiple major championships including the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games.
He was a bronze medalist in the 4 x 100 metres relay at the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany. [1]
He won the Dutch national title over 200 metres at the Dutch Athletics Championships in August 2020. [2] Burnet represented Netherlands at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, competing in the 200 metres, reaching the semi-finals. [3]
He was a bronze medalist in the men's 4 x 400 mates relay at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. [4] He ran at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in the 4 × 100 metres relay event finishing fourth. [5] He competed in the 4 x 100 metres relay at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. [6]
He finished fourth in the 200 metres at the 2023 European Athletics Team Championships. [7] At the Championships, he also competed in the 4x100 metres relay. [8] In 2023, he was selected for the 200 metres and also included with the Dutch relay pool for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. [9]
He ran in the semi-final foe the Dutch 4 x 400 metres team that would go on and win the bronze medal at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. [10] He then ran as part of the Dutch 4x100m relay team at the 2024 World Relays Championships in Nassau, Bahamas in May 2024. [11] He was a silver medalist at the 2024 European Athletics Championships in the 4 x 100 metres relay in Rome in June 2024. [12] Later that month, he was runner-up in the 100 metres at the Dutch Athletics Championships. [13] He competed in the men's 4x100m relay at the 2024 Olympic Games. [14]
In February 2025, he finished runner-up at the Dutch Indoor Athletics Championships over 60 metres. [15] He finished eighth in the final of the 60 metres at the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn. [16] He competed at the 2025 World Athletics Relays in China in the Men's 4 × 100 metres relay in May 2025. [17] Alongside Xavi Mo-Ajok, Nsikak Ekpo and Elvis Afrifa he was part of the Dutch 4 x 100 metres team which set a new national record of 37.87 seconds to win the 2025 European Athletics Team Championships First Division in Madrid on 28 June.
