Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Museum is a museum showcasing the richness, the variety and the evolution of the Ayurveda traditional medicine of India. The museum is located in Thaikkattussery, near Ollur in Thrissur in Kerala, India. The museum was inaugurated by A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, on 28 December 2013. [1] [2] The exhibits include a diorama presentation of the history of Ayurveda from mythological period to modern times, a library of texts on Ayurveda, descriptions of various branches of Ayurveda, an exclusive section on Susrutha, a picture gallery, a 3-D gallery, and a digital library. Ayurveda Alternative medicine with historical roots in the Indian subcontinent

Ayurveda is a system of medicine with historical roots in the Indian subcontinent. Globalized and modernized practices derived from Ayurveda traditions are a type of alternative medicine. In countries beyond India, Ayurvedic therapies and practices have been integrated in general wellness applications and in some cases in medical use.

A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Scientist and 11th President of India

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was an aerospace scientist who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu and studied physics and aerospace engineering. He spent the next four decades as a scientist and science administrator, mainly at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and was intimately involved in India's civilian space programme and military missile development efforts. He thus came to be known as the Missile Man of India for his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. He also played a pivotal organisational, technical, and political role in India's Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998, the first since the original nuclear test by India in 1974.

Dhanvantari God of Ayurvedic medicine and physician of the gods

Dhanvantari is the Hindu god of medicine and an avatar of Lord Vishnu. He is mentioned in the Puranas as the god of Ayurveda. He, during the Samudramanthan arose from the Ocean of Milk with the nectar of immortality. It is common practice in Hinduism for worshipers to pray to Dhanvantari seeking his blessings for sound health for themselves and/or others, especially on Dhanteras or Dhanwantari Trayodashi. The Indian Government has declared that Dhanwantari Trayodashii Kumara every year would be celebrated as "National Ayurveda Day".

Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala

Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala is an Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical company situated in Thaikkattussery, near Ollur. It is managed by Thaikkattusseri Eledathu Thaikkattu Family, one among the Ashtavaidya families of Kerala. Vaidyaratnam runs a NABH accredited nursing home by name Vaidyaratnam Nursing Home and an Ayurvedic Medical College apart from two ISO certified manufacturing plants in Thrissur and an R&D centre in Thaikkattussery, under the flagship of Vaidyaratnam. .

Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College is Ayurveda college situated in Thaikkattussery near Ollur, Thrissur City of Kerala state. The college is affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences and offers B.A.M.S. degree. The course is recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicines (CCIM) and is of a duration of 5½ years and 12 months compulsory rotatory internship. Students are admitted for the BAMS course from the list of medical entrance examination conducted by the Government of Kerala. The present intake for the degree programme is 40 students.

Vaidyaratnam P. S. Varier (1869–1944) was an Ayurvedic physician from Kerala, India. He is well-regarded as the founder of Kottakkal Arya Vaidyasala, a major Ayurvedic treatment centre in Kerala.

P. K. Warrier Ayurvedic physician

Panniyampilly Krishnankuty Warrier, popularly known as P. K. Warrier, is an Indian Ayurvedic physician. He was born in Kottakkal, Malappuram district in the state of Kerala, India. He is the chief Physician and Managing trustee of Arya Vaidya Sala. He is the youngest nephew of Vaidyaratnam P. S. Warrier, the founder of Arya Vaidya Sala.

Mural Art Museum

Mural Art Museum is the only museum dedicated to mural arts in Kerala. It is situated in Kollengode Palace in Palakkad, India. It was started as a part of Sree Mulam Chithrasala in 1938. Afterwards it was an archaeological museum and in 2009 it was renovated and opened to the public. The museum houses a gallery of murals from all over Kerala and preserves a rare treasure of Veera kallu, temple models, manuscripts written on palm leaves, life-size statues of eminent personalities, a megalith collection consisting of earthen pots, Nannangadi black and red wares, black wares russet coated wares, stone age tools, excavated materials from Indus Valley Civilisation and Harappa and Cheraman Parambu, Kodungallur.

Eledath Thaikkattu Neelakandan Mooss or E.T.Neelakandan Mooss (1904-1997) was an Ayurvedic physician and the founder of Vaidyaratnam Group.

Vadakke Madham Brahmaswam Vedic Research Centre is a residential institution for the study of vedas. It is located on the compound of Vadakke Madhom in Thrissur city of Kerala state in India. The centre once was the centre of learning for Vedas in South India and is the oldest Vedic school still running in India.

Rajagopalan Krishnan Vaidyan was an Indian ayurvedic physician from the Indian state of Kerala and the president of the Association of Ayurvedic Physicians of Kerala. He was born in a family of traditional physicians to M. P. Krishnan Vaidyan and P. Kalyanikutty Amma, both practitioners of Ayurveda, and is a graduate of modern medicine (MBBS) and Ayurvedic medicine (DAM), which he passed with first rank from the Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram. He is associated with many healthcare institutions in Kerala such as Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur, Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal, Ayurveda Pharmacy, Aluva and Ayurveda Samajam Hospitals, located at Thiruvananthapuram and Shornur, either as a consultant or as an advisor. Krishnan, who started his career at his family clinic and later worked at the Panchakarma Clinic in Cheruthuruthi, maintains his practice at his clinic in Kollam. He is an examiner of ayurvedic courses conducted by University of Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi University, University of Madras and Bharathiar University and works as the Dean of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit. He is also a member of the Central Council of Indian Medicine and an advisor on Indian medicine to the Government of Kerala. He is a recipient of Bhrihatrayee Ratna (1977) and Vaidya Vachaspati awards and has received the Fellowship from the Government of India. He was honored by the Government of India, again in 2003, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.

Arya Vaidya Sala Hospital in Kerala, India

Arya Vaidya Sala, popularly known as Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala, is a healthcare centre located in Kottakkal, in the Indian state of Kerala, known for its heritage and expertise in the Indian traditional medicine system of Ayurveda.

Kanippayyur Shankaran Namboodiripad (1891-1981) was a Nambudiri Brahmin in the State of Kerala in India who helped rejuvenate interest in the Indian traditional architectural styles known collectively as Vastu shastra. He was a consultant for the renovation of many temples in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and also the Royal Architect for the three royal families of Travancore, Cochin and Kozhikode (Calicut). He was a prolific writer authoring more than a hundred books on a variety of books relating to traditional knowledge areas like vastu shastra (architecture), jyothisha, ayurveda, and also books on history. He compiled a Sanskrit-Malayalam Dictionary and a Dictionary of Indigenous Medicines.

P. R. Krishna Kumar is an Indian ayurvedic physician and the founder of the AVP Research Foundation, a non-profit research organization promoting research in the Indian medicine system of Ayurveda and Managing Director of The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) Ltd. He is the Chancellor of the Avinashilingam University, the Chairman of CARe Keralam, a resource centre involved in efforts to standardize the ayurvedic medicines and is a recipient of an honorary doctoral degree from Kuvempu University. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Medicine.

Vaidyaratnam Triprangode Moossad

Vaidyaratnam Triprangode Parameswaran Moossad (1847–1919) was an Ayurvedic physician from Kerala, India. He is well-regarded as the First Ayurvedic practitioner in Kerala to be awarded with the title of "Vaidyaratna", given to the native medical practitioners in India, by the erstwhile British Raj in India. Vaidya, in Indian language means a medical practitioner, and ratna means jewel. Only three such awards were ever given by the British Raj in the state of Kerala, which was part of Madras Presidency then. The second award was given to E.T.Narayanan Mooss of Thaikkattussery, in the year of 1923 and third was given to Vaidyaratnam P. S. Warrier of Kottakkal in the year 1934. The second and third Vaidyaratna awardees had business acumen as well and they had established their Ayurvedic hospitals which are being run by their successors even today. In contrast, the first awardee, Triprangode Parameswaran Moossad had not established any commercial institutions. He had taken a lead role in establishing the Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam, an organization founded by several scholars of those times, with the objective of making the benefits of Ayurveda system of treatment available to all the sections of the society, irrespective of the caste, creed and religion. It is notable that T.P. Moossad had lived during troubled times, wherein India was still under colonial rule of the British Raj, and the country was highly caste-driven,orthodox and very poor. Moossad, along with his several associates had established the Samajam, breaking several social barriers in their efforts to give relief to many from various diseases.
