It was built in 1888 and is a Richardsonian Romanesque style building constructed of fieldstonewith limestone trim. It has a cross-gable roof and features arched entrances, a massive Palladian window of stained glass, and a corner bell tower.
The Bloomington freight station is a historic train station in downtown Bloomington, Indiana, United States. Constructed in the early twentieth century, it has endured closure and a series of modifications to survive to the present day, and it has been declared a historic site. Used only occasionally for many years, it is one of the most important buildings in a large historic district on the city's west side.
The Justin Zimmer House is a residence in Warsaw, Indiana at 2513 East Center Street. The home was designed by Alvin M. Strauss and built in 1934. It was home to the founder of Zimmer Holdings Justin O. Zimmer (1884-1951) and is one of two Tudor Revival architecture houses in the city. It is now the White Hill Manor bed and breakfast.
The first jail was built in 1837 of 14 inches (36 cm) square logs. It was two stories tall with a trap door from the second story floor to access the ground floor. The next jail was made of brick. Like the first jail, it was located on Courthouse Square. By 1869 this second structure was in serious need of repair. Frequent jail breaks from the second jail, led the county to hire George Garnsey of Chicago to design a new jail. The most notable jailbreak resulted when prisoners pushed bricks out of the wall.
Gary Land Company Building, also known as Gary's First Town Hall, is a historic building located at Gary, Indiana. It was built in 1906, and is a 1 1/2-story, balloon frame building with a cross-gable roof. It measures about 20 feet wide and 40 feet deep. It was converted to a residence in 1909 and moved to its present site in 1956. It was the first building in Gary, it has functioned as a city hall, post office, school, and business building. The building currently serves as an historical museum and visitor's bureau for school tour groups and visitors to the City of Gary.
Indiana Harbor Public Library, also known as Grand Boulevard Carnegie Library, is a historic Carnegie library located at 3605 Grand Boulevard in East Chicago, Lake County, Indiana. It was built in 1913, and is a one-story, Arts and Crafts style brick building on a raised basement. An addition was constructed in 1931. The building has a clay tile hipped roof and an entry porch supported by square brick columns. The building was constructed with a $20,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation.
Jacoby Church and Cemetery is a historic community church and cemetery located in Center Township, Marshall County, Indiana. The church was built in 1860, and is a one-story, Greek Revival style frame building, measuring 32 feet by 40 feet. The front facade features a projecting bell tower / vestibule added in 1910. The cemetery was established in 1850, and contains approximately 166 burials.
East Laporte Street Footbridge is a historic footbridge located at Plymouth, Marshall County, Indiana. It was built in 1898 by the Rochester Bridge Company and spans the Yellow River. It is a two-span, Kingpost truss bridge measuring 100 feet long and 6 feet wide. The bridge connects a residential area of Plymouth to downtown.
Coca-Cola Bottling Company Plant is a historic Coca-Cola bottling plant located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. The original section was built in 1924, and is a two-story, roughly square, red brick building. A one-story section was added in a renovation of 1938–1939, along with Art Deco style design elements on the original building. It closed as a bottling plant in 1989, and subsequently converted for commercial uses.
Home Laundry Company is a historic laundry building located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. The original section was built in 1922, and is a two-story, roughly square, red brick building. A one-story Moderne style wraparound addition was built in 1947–1948. It continued to house a laundry when listed in 2000 and currently houses a Chinese restaurant..
Johnson's Creamery is a historic creamery building located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. The original section was built about 1914, and is a two-story, rectangular, red brick building. Additions were made to the original building until 1951, and are all constructed of red brick with parapets. The iconic smokestack dates to 1949. Johnson's Creamery vacated the building in 1987.
Monroe Carnegie Library, also known as Old Monroe Carnegie Library, is a historic Carnegie library located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. It was built in 1917, and is a one-story, rectangular, Neoclassical style limestone building on a raised basement. The Monroe County History Center is a history museum the historic library building that was established as a Carnegie library. The museum is located on the site of Center School in the former Bloomington Public Library building. The library building is now home to the Monroe County Historical Society, their collection of artifacts, and their Genealogy Library. A historical marker is present at the site. The History Center is located at 202 East 6th Street. It is a tourist attraction.
Saint John's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church located at Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana. It was built in 1837 by an Episcopal congregation organized through missionary bishop Jackson Kemper, and is a one-story, gable fronted frame building in the Greek Revival style. The original section measures 30 feet by 50 feet; a 30-foot rear addition was built in 1960. Atop the roof is a belfry added about 1950. It is the oldest remaining church building in Crawfordsville and Indiana's first Episcopal Church building.
South Bend Brewing Association is a historic brewery complex located at South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. The main plant was built in 1905, and is a large, irregularly shaped brick building with a four-story section. It features square corner towers and a crenellated parapet. A one-story, glass paneled storefront was added in the 1950s. A separate bottling works building was constructed in 1910.
Curtis–Grace House, also known as the Roy and Leona Curtis House and Richard and Connie Grace House, is a historic home located at West Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. It was built in 1958, and is a two-story, banked, post-and-beam Modern Movement style dwelling, with a broad, low-pitched offset gable roof. It is constructed of concrete block, redwood, natural stone, and plate glass. The overall dimensions are approximately 82 feet by 23 feet. The surrounding landscaped property is a contributing site.
McCurdy Building, also known as the Sears, Roebuck and Company Building, is a historic commercial building located in downtown Evansville, Indiana. It was built in 1920, and is a four-story brick building. The first floor features large display windows framed with limestone pilasters. A two-story addition was constructed in 1937, later raised to four stories in 1946. A two-story limestone faced addition, known as The Annex, was constructed in 1943. In 1925, it was occupied by the first Sears store to operate as a direct retail business independent of a catalog department.
P. C. C. & St. L. Railroad Freight Depot, also known as the Central Union Warehouse, was a historic freight depot located at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. It was built in 1916 by the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad. It was a one-story, brick warehouse building measuring 790 feet long and 70 feet wide. It has been demolished.
