1105 West Peachtree is a mixed-use development in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Located along West Peachtree Street in Midtown Atlanta, the development would consist primarily of a 32-story office building and a smaller residential tower called 40 West 12th.
The project, occupying a 3.5-acre (1.4-hectare) lot on West Peachtree Street in Midtown Atlanta, was announced by Selig Enterprises in December 2016. [1] The project, which they announced would begin construction the following Summer, would consist of a 32-story office building featuring 645,000 square feet (59,900 m2) of office space and a residential building housing 80 residences and a 150-room hotel. [2] These two buildings would be connected by a raised plaza, with additional street level retail on the site. [3] The architecture firm Rule Joy Trammell & Rubio would design the project, which had an expected cost of $400 million. [2] [3] In June 2017, Selig had applied for permits to demolish three preexisting buildings on the site, including the Dr. Marion Luther Brittain Sr. House, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [4] Permits were approved later that year, [5] and by January 2018 the buildings were demolished. [6] The next month, it was announced that the hotel for the project would be part of the Autograph Collection by Marriott International. [7] [8]
In December 2018, Selig announced that construction on the project would begin in January of the following year. That same month, the project signed on its first tenants, a law firm relocating from Promenade II. [9] By April 2019, condominiums at the property were being sold, with an opening scheduled for Spring 2021. [10] In October, Cushman & Wakefield, acting for Selig, secured $340 million from The Blackstone Group, covering much of the budget, which by this time had risen to approximately $530 million. [11] That same month, it was announced that Google was planning to occupy around 400,000 square feet (37,000 m2) of office space, making them an anchor tenant for the project. [12] [13] The project held its official groundbreaking on October 28, 2019. [14] By December 2019, specifications for the project had changed slightly, with plans for 675,000 square feet (62,700 m2) of office space, a 178-room hotel, and 64 condominiums. [15] In January 2020, Brasfield & Gorrie were announced as the project's general contractor, and that same month, the raised plaza, which will serve as a connecting deck between the two buildings, topped out. On February 19, a tower crane at the construction site became unstable and started to lean due to a mechanical failure, causing authorities to close several nearby roadways as the crane was disassembled. [18] Several nearby apartment buildings and parking garages were also evacuated. [19]
Tower Square is a 206.4 m (677 ft), 47-story skyscraper located in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. Completed in 1982, it serves as the regional headquarters of BellSouth Telecommunications, which does business as AT&T Southeast, and was acquired as part of AT&T's acquisition of BellSouth. BellSouth Corporate headquarters was located in the Campanile building, also in Midtown. By 2020, AT&T had vacated its offices.
Technology Square, commonly called Tech Square, is a multi-block neighborhood located in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Tech Square is bounded by 8th Street on the north, 3rd Street on the south, West Peachtree Street to the east, and Williams Street to the west. Tech Square includes several academic buildings affiliated with Georgia Tech and provides access to the campus via the Fifth Street Pedestrian Plaza Bridge, reconstructed in 2007. It also contains restaurants, retail shops, condominiums, office buildings, and a hotel.
Symphony Center was a proposed concert hall in Atlanta, Georgia that would have been the new home of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The site for the new structure was to be in Midtown on 14th Street just south of the current Symphony Hall in the Woodruff Arts Center. Architect Santiago Calatrava was selected to design the facility and delivered a design that would serve as a "postcard" for the city. The design was unveiled in 2005, but was cancelled in 2008 due to funding issues. The ASO now plans to build a new hall at the Woodruff Arts Center, at 15th Street and Peachtree Street.
1010 Midtown is a 35-story, 124 m (407 ft) skyscraper in Atlanta, Georgia with 425 condominiums atop 38,000 sq ft (3,500 m2) of retail and dining space. The structure is part of the 12th & Midtown development, situated on approximately 2 acres (0.81 ha) on the block between 11th and 12th streets in Midtown Atlanta, the front of which follows the curve of Peachtree Street. The 1010 Midtown building also features a park-in-the-sky, which will be one of the largest environmentally green rooftops in the city.
12th and Midtown is a four-block commercial real estate development project in Midtown Atlanta along Peachtree Street and Crescent Avenue between 11th and 13th Streets. The development currently contains three of the tallest buildings in Midtown, with more buildings planned in the coming years.
