North Avenue Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church at 607 Peachtree Avenue, NE in Atlanta, Georgia. The church building was completed in 1900 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
As the city grew to the north, several Presbyterians felt the need for a new church in the area. The first organizational meeting for the new church were held about 1894 by Mrs. Joseph M. High, Mrs. J. D. McCarty, and Mrs. Clem Harris, who were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. The official founding was in December 1898 and included 100 members from First Presbyterian, 15 from Central Presbyterian Church, and one from Athens Presbyterian Church. [2] [3]
In 1909, the church created the North Avenue Presbyterian School, which by 1951 would become The Westminster Schools. [4] [5]

Washington Hall was a historic hotel in antebellum Atlanta, Georgia. Built in 1846, the building was one of the earliest hotels built in the city. The hotel, along with many other structures in the city, was destroyed in 1864 during the Battle of Atlanta.
The Venable Brothers was a business venture formed by brothers William Hoyt Venable (1852–1905) and Samuel Hoyt Venable (1856–1939) in DeKalb County, Georgia. The brothers owned rock quarries. Sam Venable was involved in the resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan and in the creation of the Confederate memorial on Stone Mountain, Georgia. He owned Stone Mountain, where a cross burning was held in 1915, and granted the Klan an easement to the mountain in 1923. The Venable brothers granted a 12-year lease to Stone Mountain for the carving of the Confederate memorial carving started by Gutzon Borglum.

Founded in the 1830s as a railroad terminus, Atlanta experienced rapid growth in its early years to become a major economic center of Georgia, with several hotels built to accommodate for this growth. Following its destruction during the Civil War, Atlanta experienced a resurgence and another hotel boom commenced in the late 1800s through the early 1900s.
