Midtown Union is a mixed-use development currently under construction in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. First proposed in 2016 as Midtown Heights, the project would feature multiple high-rises built in midtown Atlanta at the intersection of 17th Street and Spring Street. Construction started in 2019 and is expected to be completed by 2022.
On August 8, 2016, MetLife announced that JLL had been selected as the master development manager for a new real estate development project in midtown Atlanta called Midtown Heights. [1] MetLife had begun collecting the property, an 8.5-acre (3.4-hectare) parcel at the intersection of Spring Street and 17th Street, in 2006. Around this time, MetLife had planned for a high-rise mixed-use development at that site called "Metropolitan Center," but these ideas were shelved during the Great Recession. [1] At the time of JLL's hiring, the parcel was home to an office building from the 1960s. [1] [2] On March 7, 2018, MetLife unveiled renderings for the project and announced that Arquitectonica had designed the project's master plan and Atlanta-based Cooper Carry would lead the building design. [2] By May 2018, the project had taken the name Midtown Union. [3]
On May 30, 2019, Invesco announced that they planned to be a major tenant in the new development. [4] Per their announcement, they would occupy about half of the total office space in the development. [5] [6] On October 5 of that year, the office building at the site was demolished to make way for the development. [7] Several weeks earlier, on September 10, the Midtown Development Review Committee had approved a revised plan for the project put forward by developer Granite Properties. [5]
Construction officially began on November 26, 2019, [8] with a groundbreaking ceremony occurring on December 9. [9] [10] Brasfield & Gorrie are serving as contractors for the project. [11] The development is expected to begin opening in 2022. [8]
The development will consist of a 26 story tower housing 600,000 square feet of office space, an 18 story residential building containing 355 apartments, and a 12 story hotel. Additionally, the development will feature 30,000 square feet of retail space. [12]
In Downtown Atlanta, the Downtown Connector or 75/85 is the concurrent section of Interstate 75 and Interstate 85 through the core of the city. Beginning at the I-85/Langford Parkway interchange, the Downtown Connector runs generally due north, meeting the west–east I-20 in the middle. Just north of this is the Grady Curve around Grady Memorial Hospital. Continuing north, the terminus of the Downtown Connector is the Brookwood Interchange or Brookwood Split in the Brookwood area of the city. The overall length of the Downtown Connector is approximately 7.5 miles (12 km). Since the 2000s, it has been officially named James Wendell George Parkway for most of its length, although it is still designated the Connector in the mainstream. It also has unsigned designations State Route 401 (I-75) and State Route 403 (I-85) along its length, due to I-75 and I-85 having 400-series reference numbers.
AT&T Midtown Center I is a 206.4 m (677 ft), 47-story skyscraper located in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. Completed in 1982, it serves as the regional headquarters of BellSouth Telecommunications, which does business as AT&T Southeast, and was acquired as part of AT&T's acquisition of BellSouth. BellSouth Corporate headquarters was located in the Campanile building, also in Midtown.
The English-American Building, commonly referenced as the Flatiron Building, is a building completed in 1897 located at 84 Peachtree Street NW in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, on the wedge-shaped block between Peachtree Street NE, Poplar Street NW, and Broad Street NW. It was completed five years before New York's Flatiron Building, and shares a similar prominent flatiron shape as its counterpart. It was designed by Bradford Gilbert, a Chicago school contemporary of Daniel Burnham, the designer of the New York building. The building has 11 stories, and is the city's second and oldest standing skyscraper. The Flatiron building is protected by the city as a historic building in the Fairlie-Poplar district of downtown, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Technology Square, commonly called Tech Square, is a multi-block neighborhood located in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Tech Square is bounded by 8th Street on the north, 3rd Street on the south, West Peachtree Street to the east, and Williams Street to the west. Tech Square includes several academic buildings affiliated with Georgia Tech and provides access to the campus via the Fifth Street Pedestrian Plaza Bridge, reconstructed in 2007. It also contains restaurants, retail shops, condominiums, office buildings, and a hotel.
Atlantic Station is a neighborhood on the northwestern edge of Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States comprising a retail district, office space, condominiums, townhomes and apartment buildings. First planned in the mid-1990s and officially opened in 2005, the neighborhood's 138 acres are located on the former brownfield site of the Atlantic Steel mill.
1010 Midtown is a 35-story, 124 m (407 ft) skyscraper in Atlanta, Georgia with 425 condominiums atop 38,000 sq ft (3,500 m2) of retail and dining space. The structure is part of the 12th & Midtown development, situated on approximately 2 acres (0.81 ha) on the block between 11th and 12th streets in Midtown Atlanta, the front of which follows the curve of Peachtree Street. The 1010 Midtown building also features a park-in-the-sky, which will be one of the largest environmentally green rooftops in the city.

Highpoint on Columbus Commons is a $50 million mixed-use development project in Columbus, Ohio consisting of both multi-family and retail space. Highpoint includes 301 apartments and townhomes and has plans for 23,000 square feet of street-level retail fronting on High Street, the main north-south thoroughfare through Columbus, Ohio.
The Works is a partially completed 80-acre (32 ha) mixed-use development on the Upper Westside of Atlanta. It is being developed by Selig Development and will consist of 40 buildings, including several historic structures. As of 2020, the project is undergoing its first phase of construction, which will see 27 acres (11 ha) developed.
CODA is a mixed-use development at Tech Square in Midtown Atlanta. The 770,000-square-foot (72,000 m2) building contains 645,000 square feet (59,900 m2) of office space, 80,000 square feet (7,400 m2) of "high performance computing space/data center", 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2) of street level retail space, and a 20,000-square-foot (1,900 m2) "outdoor living room". There is also a 20,000-square-foot (1,900 m2) food hall.
The Stitch is a proposed engineering project that would see portions of the Downtown Connector in Atlanta, Georgia capped and covered with public greenspaces. The proposal, drafted by Jacobs Engineering Group in coordination with Central Atlanta Progress, was first proposed in August 2016 and would cover an area of approximately 14 acres (5.7 ha).
