Reykjavík Capital of Iceland

Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland. It is located in southwestern Iceland, on the southern shore of Faxaflói bay. Its latitude is 64°08' N, making it the world's northernmost capital of a sovereign state. Reykjavík Summit

The Reykjavík Summit was a summit meeting between U.S. president Ronald Reagan and General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev, held in Reykjavík, Iceland, on 11–12 October 1986. The talks collapsed at the last minute, but the progress that had been achieved eventually resulted in the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Höfði

Höfði is a house in Reykjavík, Iceland, best known as the location for the 1986 Reykjavík Summit meeting of President Ronald Reagan of the United States and General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev of the Soviet Union. This meeting was a important step towards ending of the Cold War. Within the building, the flags of the United States and the Soviet Union are cross-hung to commemorate the meeting.

KR mens basketball

The KR men's basketball team, commonly known as KR or KR Basket, is a professional basketball club based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is the men's basketball department of Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur multi-sport club. It is the reigning champion of the Úrvalsdeild karla. It has won the Icelandic championship eighteen times, the most national championships in the men's top-tier league history. In 2017 the club played in FIBA Europe Cup for the first time since 2008.

Katrín Jakobsdóttir Icelandic politician

Katrín Jakobsdóttir is an Icelandic politician serving as the 28th and current prime minister of Iceland since 2017. She has been a member of the Althing for the Reykjavík North constituency since 2007. She became deputy chairperson of the Left-Green Movement in 2003 and has been their chairperson since 2013. Katrín was Iceland's minister of education, science and culture and of Nordic co-operation from 2 February 2009 to 23 May 2013. She is Iceland's second female prime minister, after Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir. On 19 February 2020, she was named Chair of the Council of Women World Leaders.

Sigursteinn Davíð Gíslason was an Icelandic football player and manager. A left-sided defender who could also play in midfield, he spent the majority of his playing career in his home country; he started his career with KR and later had spells with ÍA and Víkingur Reykjavík. During the 1999–2000 season, Sigursteinn joined English club Stoke City and played eight matches in the Football League. Following his retirement from playing, he became a coach at his former club KR and went on to spend three years as the club's assistant manager. In 2008, Sigursteinn was appointed as manager of Leiknir Reykjavík, a position he held for more than two seasons before being forced to retire through illness.

2010 Visa-Bikar was the 51st season of the Icelandic national football cup. It began on 7 May 2010 and ended with the final on 14 August 2010 at Laugardalsvöllur. The winners qualified for the second qualifying round of the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League.

The 2011 Visa-Bikar was the 52nd season of the Icelandic national football cup. It began on 30 April 2011 and ended with the final in August 2011 at Laugardalsvöllur. FH were the reigning champions, having won their second Icelandic cup last year.

Jón Jónsson Icelandic singer and footballer

Jón Ragnar Jónsson is an Icelandic singer songwriter and a former footballer. He is signed to Epic Records. He was signed by Epic Records and has released two albums, Wait for Fate in 2011 and Heim in 2014.

Emil Thoroddsen was an Icelandic composer, pianist, playwright, critic and translator. He was the chief art critic of "Morgunblaðið" newspaper from 1926–1933 and worked for the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service since its establishment in 1930. Among his most widely known songs are „Íslands Hrafnistumenn“ and „Hver á sér fegra föðurland“ which was premiered at the Festival of the Republic in 1944, shortly before he far too prematurely died from pneumonia.

Andri Rúnar Bjarnason is an Icelandic professional footballer who plays for Esbjerg fB as a forward.

The Valur women's football team, commonly known as Valur, is the women's football department of the Valur multi-sport club. It is based in Reykjavík, Iceland, and currently plays in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top-tier women's football league in Iceland. The team plays it home games at Hlíðarendi located in Reykjavík. The team's colors are red and white.

Jónína Jónatansdóttir Icelandic politician (1869–1946)

Jónína Jónatansdóttir was a labor leader and local representative in Reykjavík from 1922 to 1924.
