The 1972 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XI Olympic Winter Games, was a winter multi-sport event held in Sapporo, Japan, from 3 to 13 February 1972. A total of 1,006 athletes representing 35 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) participated in 35 events from 10 different sports and disciplines.

Einar Valur Kristjánsson was an Icelandic alpine skier. He competed in two events at the 1956 Winter Olympics. He also played football for ÍBÍ and Víkingur Reykjavík.
Haukur Arnórsson is an Icelandic alpine skier. He competed at the 1994 Winter Olympics and the 1998 Winter Olympics.
Dagný Linda Kristjánsdóttir is an Icelandic alpine skier. She competed at the 2002 Winter Olympics and the 2006 Winter Olympics.
