Eiður Guðjohnsen Icelandic footballer

Eiður Smári Guðjohnsen is an Icelandic professional football coach and former player who played as a forward. He is currently the assistant manager of the Iceland men's national team. Eiður saw his greatest success in England and Spain with Chelsea and Barcelona respectively, where he won the UEFA Champions League and La Liga with the latter and the League Cup and Premiership twice with the former. Along with two spells at Bolton Wanderers fourteen years apart, he also played in Iceland, the Netherlands, France, Greece, Belgium, China and Norway in a club career lasting 22 years.

<i>Nýtt líf</i> 1983 Icelandic film by Þráinn Bertelsson

Nýtt Líf is an Icelandic film directed by Þráinn Bertelsson and released in 1983. The film is a comedy shot in the Westman Islands and stars Eggert Þorleifsson and Karl Ágúst Úlfsson, among others. The music features several musicians including the band Tappi Tíkarrass, which contributed the songs "Sperglar" and "Kukl".

Björgólfur Guðmundsson was the chairman and former owner of West Ham United. Björgólfur was Iceland's second businessman worth more than a billion dollars — his son, Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson being the first. He was at one time the majority owner and chairman of the now nationalised Icelandic bank Landsbanki, the second largest company in Iceland. He was ranked by Forbes magazine in March 2008 as the 1014th-richest person in the world, with a net worth of $1.1 billion. In December of the same year Forbes revalued his net worth to $0, and on 31 July 2009 he was declared bankrupt by the Icelandic courts with debts of almost £500 million.

KR mens basketball

The KR men's basketball team, commonly known as KR or KR Basket, is a professional basketball club based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is the men's basketball department of Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur multi-sport club. It is the reigning champion of the Úrvalsdeild karla. It has won the Icelandic championship eighteen times, the most national championships in the men's top-tier league history. In 2017 the club played in FIBA Europe Cup for the first time since 2008.

Fanndís Friðriksdóttir Icelandic footballer

Fanndís Friðriksdóttir is an Icelandic football player who plays as a left winger for Valur in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild kvenna, and currently for Australian club Adelaide United for the 2018–19 W-League season. She spent the 2017–2018 season with Olympique de Marseille in the French Division 1 Féminine and has previously played in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna for Breiðablik and the Norwegian Toppserien for Kolbotn and Arna-Bjørnar. Fanndís has been a part of the Iceland's national team since 2009 and represented her country at the 2009, 2013 and 2017 editions of the UEFA Women's Championship.

Thor Philip Axel Jensen

Thor Philip Axel Jensen was a Danish entrepreneur who moved to Iceland at an early age and became famous there for his business activities during the first half of the twentieth century: he all but introduced big business, and even modern capitalism, to the country. His company Kveldúlfur hf. was the biggest in Iceland during the inter-war years. His descendants include some of Iceland's most powerful and well known figures.

Safnahúsið

Safnahúsið, formerly Þjóðmenningarhúsið[ˈθjouːðˌmɛnniŋkarˌhuːsɪθ], is an exhibition space in Reykjavík, Iceland, which houses an exhibition, Points of View, drawn from various national museums and other cultural institutions. It has been part of the National Museum of Iceland since 2013. The director is Markús Þór Andrésson. The building, Hverfisgata 15, was constructed to house the National Library and at one time also housed a number of other museums.

The Valur men's basketball team, commonly known as Valur, is a basketball team based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is part of the Valur multi-sport club.

ÍR mens basketball

The Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur men's basketball team, commonly known as ÍR, is the men's basketball department of Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur. It is based in Reykjavík, Iceland and currently plays in Úrvalsdeild karla. ÍR was one of the pioneers of basketball in Iceland and one of the founding members of the men's Úrvalsdeild. From 1954 to 1977, the team won fifteen national championships. In 1964, it became the first Icelandic team to compete in a continental competition when it defeated the Collegians from Belfast, 71-17, in the first round of the 1964–65 FIBA European Champions Cup.

Íþróttafélag Stúdenta

Íþróttafélag Stúdenta, commonly known as ÍS, is a Icelandic multi-sport club based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It was founded by students of University of Iceland on 21 January 1928. Since its foundation, the club has been involded in various sports, most notably wrestling, basketball and volleyball.
