Iceland has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 36 times since its debut in 1986, missing only two contests since then, in 1998 and 2002, when prevented from competing due to finishing outside qualification places the preceding years. The country's best result is second place, which it achieved with "All Out of Luck" by Selma in 1999 and "Is It True?" by Yohanna in 2009. The Icelandic participant broadcaster in the contest is Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV), which select its entrant with the national competition Söngvakeppnin.
Icelandic passports are issued to citizens of Iceland for the purpose of international travel. Beside serving as proof of Icelandic citizenship, they facilitate the process of securing assistance from Icelandic consular officials abroad.
The Iceland women's national handball team is the national handball team of Iceland and takes part in international team handball competitions. They qualified to the 2010 European Women's Handball Championship. This was the first time they qualified to any international championship. They finished with the 15th place. Two years later, at the 2012 European Women's Handball Championship, they managed the same results.

Northeast is one of the six multi-member constituencies of the Althing, the national legislature of Iceland. The constituency was established as Northeastern in 1959 following the nationwide extension of proportional representation for elections to the Althing. It was renamed Northeast in 2003 when most of the Eastern constituency was merged into the Northeastern constituency following the re-organisation of constituencies across Iceland. Northeast consists of the regions of Eastern and Northeastern. The constituency currently elects nine of the 63 members of the Althing using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2021 parliamentary election it had 29,847 registered electors.
Southwest is one of the six multi-member constituencies of the Althing, the national legislature of Iceland. The constituency was established as Reykjanes in 1959 following the nationwide extension of proportional representation for elections to the Althing. It was renamed Southwest in 2003 when the Reykjanes area of constituency was merged into the Southern constituency following the re-organisation of constituencies across Iceland. Southwest is conterminous with the Capital region but excludes Reykjavík Municipality which has its own constituencies. The constituency currently elects 11 of the 63 members of the Althing using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2021 parliamentary election it had 73,699 registered electors.
Ragnhildur Rósa Guðmundsdóttir is an Icelandic former team handball player. She played on the Icelandic national team and participated at the 2011 World Women's Handball Championship in Brazil.

Baldur Þórhallsson is an Icelandic academic. He is currently Professor of Political Science and Jean Monnet Chair in European Studies at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Iceland. He was a deputy member of Alþingi in 2011 and 2012, representing the Social Democratic Alliance. In March 2024, he announced his candidacy for the President of Iceland as an independent.
Rósa Guðmundsdóttir (1795–1855), was an Icelandic poet. She was one of the best-known Icelandic poets of her time and is the author of many well-known Icelandic folk songs and poems.
María Guðmundsdóttir Toney was an Icelandic alpine ski racer. She won the Icelandic slalom championship four times and the giant slalom championship twice.
Freyr Alexandersson is an Icelandic football coach and former player who is currently the head coach of the Belgian Pro League club Kortrijk. He was manager of the Icelandic women's national football team from 2013 to 2018.
An Icelandic driving licence is a permit issued by the Icelandic Transport Authority authorizing its holder to operate a motorized vehicle. The design conforms to the European driving licence style, and is valid in all countries in the European Economic Area, as well as many others outside Europe. In Iceland the driving age is 17, and 16 is the minimum age to obtain a learner's permit. They are issued in physical form, with an optional digital version also being issued for smartphones. In 2022, 91% of Icelanders had a driving licence.
The Valur women's handball team, commonly known as Valur, is the women's handball department of the Knattspyrnufélagið Valur multi-sport club. It has won the Icelandic championship 17 times.

Samúel Pétursson Thorsteinsson was an Icelandic footballer and a physician. He played in seven matches for the Denmark national team in 1918 and 1919.

Tjöruhúsið is an Icelandic seafood restaurant in Ísafjörður, Iceland. Located in a house by the same name in Neðstikaupstaður, the oldest cluster of houses in Iceland, it was originally operated as a coffee shop during the summer months. In 2004, Magnús Hauksson took over the business at the behest of the town council and soon started to offer seafood menu and increased the opening time from easter to October.
Jón Baldursson was an Icelandic bridge player. He won the Bermuda Bowl in 1991 in Japan. He remains the top masterpoint winner in Iceland. Jón is in the European Bridge Hall of fame in 2019.
