The Houston Astros 2012 season was the 51st and final season for the franchise in the National League in Houston, their 48th as the Astros and their 13th season at Minute Maid Park.
This season was also the Astros' last in the National League. As a part of the sale of the team from Drayton McLane to Jim Crane, the Astros agreed to move from the National League Central to the American League West starting in 2013. [1]

The 1980 Kansas City Royals season was their 12th in Major League Baseball. The Royals, under new manager Jim Frey, finished first in the American League West with a record of 97–65. Kansas City finally broke through in the postseason, sweeping the New York Yankees 3-0 in the 1980 American League Championship Series after falling to the Yankees in the ALCS in 1976, 1977 and 1978. The Royals lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 in the World Series.

The 2018 Cleveland Indians season was the 118th season for the franchise. It was the sixth season under the leadership of manager Terry Francona and third under general manager Mike Chernoff. The Indians played all of their home games at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. This was the last season in which the Indians logo Chief Wahoo was used on uniforms or on stadium signs. They won their third straight American League Central title before being swept by the defending World Series champion Houston Astros in the ALDS. Due to the Indians losing to the Astros, the Indians became the fifth team in MLB history to have a 70 year title drought.
The 2019 Tampa Bay Rays season was the Rays' 22nd season of Major League Baseball, and the 12th as the "Rays". The Rays clinched a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2013 and defeated the Oakland Athletics in the ALWC Game 5–1. They then lost in the ALDS to the Houston Astros 3–2.
