The women's 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships was held on 9 July. India won the race, but were later disqualified when Nirmala Sheoran was sanctioned for doping. [1]

Nirmala Sitharaman is an Indian economist and politician serving as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of India since 2019. She is a member of the Rajya Sabha, upper house of the Indian Parliament, since 2014. Sitharaman previously served as the Defence Minister of India, thereby becoming India's second female defence minister and the second female finance minister after Indira Gandhi, and the first full-time female minister to hold each of those portfolios.
