2019 Asian Athletics Championships – Men's pole vault

The men's pole vault at the 2019 Asian Athletics Championships was held on 21 April. It was won by Ernest John Obiena of the Philippines with a new Championships record of 5.71 metres, which was also the new national record for his country. He was followed on the podium by two Chinese vaulters, Zhang Wei and Huang Bokai, both recording season's bests. The defending champion, Ding Bangchao, also of China, did not compete.

Renaud Lavillenie is a French pole vaulter. Lavillenie won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in London and the silver medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. In addition to his Olympic success, he has won three World Indoor Championships gold medals (record), three European Championships gold medals and four European Indoor Championships gold medals. He has also won one silver medal and four bronze medals at the World Championships. As of 25 August 2016, he holds the French national records for the highest pole vault clearance both outdoors and indoors. The 6.16 was the absolute world record for the pole vault for over six years, 2014–2020. He was the pole vault overall winner of the IAAF Diamond League in seven consecutive years, from 2010 to 2016.

Ernest John Uy Obiena, also known as EJ Obiena, is a Filipino Olympian pole vaulter. Before breaking the Asian Athletics Championships record, he held the Philippine national record in pole vaulting with a record of 5.55 meters which he accomplished on April 29, 2016, at the 78th Singapore Open Championships in Kallang, Singapore. He later broke the Asian Athletics Championships record with 5.71 meters on April 21, 2019, on its 23rd biennial meet at Doha, Qatar which earned him the coveted gold medal finish. He currently holds the National Record which he broke in the same event.

Liu Tingting is a Chinese artistic gymnast and the current team captain of the Chinese women's national artistic gymnastics team. She is best known for her innovative, quick connections and high degree of difficulty on balance beam and uneven bars. She is the 2018 World champion, the 2019 World silver medalist, and the 2017 Asian champion on balance beam, and the 2018 Asian Games and 2019 Chinese national champion on the uneven bars. She has also often competed in the all-around event in her senior career, where is the 2017 Asian champion and a two-time Chinese national champion.

Jade Ashtyn Carey is an American artistic gymnast who represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Best known for her abilities on vault and floor exercise, she is the 2020 Olympic champion on floor exercise, a two-time World medalist, the 2018 Pan American Champion, and a four-time American national silver medalist. On vault, she is the 2022 World champion, a two-time World silver medalist, the 2018 Pan American champion, and a two-time American national champion. She was a member of the teams that won gold at the 2019 World Championships, the 2022 World Championships, and the 2018 Pan American Champion. In 2019, the main athletic events were the 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, the 2019 IAAF World Relays, and the 2019 World Athletics Championships.

The 2010 Chinese Athletics Championships was the year's national outdoor track and field championships for China. It was held from 5–8 August in Jinan. It served as the qualifying meet for China at the 2010 Asian Games. The highlight of the competition was a Chinese national record of 5.75 metres in the men's pole vault by Yang Yansheng.

She is the 2019 World all-around silver medalist, matching Jiang Yuyuan at the 2010 World Championships for the highest all-around finish for a Chinese woman in World or Olympic history. On the junior level, she is the 2018 Asian all-around, vault, and floor exercise champion.
