During the Parade of Nations at the 2022 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, held on 28 July 2022, athletes bearing the flags of their respective nations lead their national delegations as they paraded into Alexander Stadium in the host city of Birmingham, England. A total of 72 Commonwealth Games Associations entered into the stadium.
As per tradition, Australia (as the host of the last games) entered first, followed by the rest of the Oceania region. Following this all countries entered in alphabetical order within their respective region groups. After Oceania, countries from Africa, America, Asia, the Caribbean and lastly Europe entered. The host nation, England, entered last.
Below is a list of parading countries and their announced flag bearer, in the same order as the parade. Names are given in the form officially designated by the CGF.
The opening ceremony of the 2010 Commonwealth Games was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main stadium of the event, in New Delhi, India. It began at 7:00 PM (IST) on 3 October 2010 ending at 10:00 PM (IST) displaying India's varied culture in a plethora of cultural showcases. Wizcraft was given the contract to produce the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
During the 2018 Winter Olympics Parade of Nations at the 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremony, beginning at 20:00 KST (UTC+9) on 9 February 2018, athletes bearing the flags of their respective nations led their national delegations as they paraded into the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium in the host city of Pyeongchang, South Korea. 92 teams qualified to compete.
During the Parade of Nations at the 2018 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, held on 4 April 2018, 71 athletes bearing the flags of their respective nations led their national delegations as they paraded into Carrara Stadium in the host city of Gold Coast, Australia.
During the Parade of Nations within the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, which took place on 23 July 2021, athletes and officials from each participating team entered the Olympic Stadium preceded by their flag and placard bearer. Each flag bearer will have been chosen either by the team's National Olympic Committee or by the athletes themselves. For the first time, each team had the option to allow two flag bearers, one male and one female, in an effort to promote gender equality. These Olympics were postponed from 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and due security measures some countries prevented their athletes to participate on event.
During the Parade of Nations within the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics opening ceremony on February 4, athletes and officials from each participating country marched in the Beijing National Stadium preceded by their flag and placard bearer bearing the respective country's name. Each flag bearer was chosen either by the nation's National Olympic Committee or by the team of athletes themselves.
New Zealand competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England, from 28 July to 8 August 2022. It is New Zealand's 22nd appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having competed at every Games since their inception in 1930. New Zealand finished fifth on the medal table, winning a total of 50 medals, 20 of which were gold. This makes these games New Zealand's best performance ever in terms of gold medals, beating the 17 won in Auckland at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, but third overall in terms of total medals, with 50, behind the 58 in 1990, and the 53 at the Games also in Auckland.
Trinidad and Tobago competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022. It was the team's 19th appearance at the Games.
Cyprus competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022. It was Cyprus' 11th appearance at the Games.
Jamaica competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022.
During the closing ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China the flag bearers of 91 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) arrived into Beijing National Stadium on February 20. The flag bearers from each participating country entered the stadium informally in single file, and behind them marched all the athletes. The flags of each country were not necessarily carried by the same flag bearer as in the opening ceremony.

The Gambia competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. It was The Gambia's twelfth appearance at the Games.
Zambia competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. It was Zambia's fifteenth appearance at the Games.
Bermuda competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Bermuda was present at the inaugural Games in 1930 and made its nineteenth appearance.
Lesotho competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022. This was Lesotho's 12th appearance at the Commonwealth Games.
Team Uganda was among the 72 nations that paraded out for the Commonwealth games, led by flag bearers Michael Wokorach (Rugby 7s) and Peace Proscovia (Netball).
Doug Clark from the Badminton team, and Daphne Arthur Almond from the lawn bowls team, will have the honour of carrying the flags on behalf of the Falkland Islands at the opening ceremony in Birmingham on the 28th July.
Bangladeshi Sura Krishna, who carried the national flag in last night's opening ceremony of the Games, was scheduled to fight his Fiji rival Aria Rockbuli today
The opening ceremony of the Games was held at the Alexender Stadium on Thursday night where South Asian Games 2016 gold medallist weightlifter Mabia Aktar Simanta carried the Bangladesh flag in the march.
Meanwhile, Sunshine Girls netball captain Jhaniele Fowler and Rugby 7s captain Oshane Edie will be Jamaica's flag bearers at the opening ceremony. Team captains are Shamera Sterling of netball and Samuel Ricketts of badminton, while young swimmers Zaneta Alvaranga and Sydrell Williams will announced at the flag bearers for the closing ceremony on August 8
This year, a change in protocol at the Games meant the Commonwealth Games Federation announced that competing teams will be able to have two flag bearers, one male and one female. Thus, Holly is Gibraltar's female bearer, whilst the male will be cyclist, Derek Barbara.
