Uganda competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. [1] It was Uganda's sixteenth appearance at the Games.

The Uganda national netball team, also known as the She-Cranes, represent the Uganda Netball Federation in international netball tournaments, such as the Netball World Cup and the Commonwealth Games. Uganda have won Africa Netball Cup, All-Africa Games and Netball Singapore Nations Cup tournaments. Mary Cholhok Nuba, also spelled as Mary Cholhock Nuba, who is also simply known either as Mary Cholhok or Mary Nuba is a South Sudanese born professional Ugandan netball player who plays for Loughborough Lightning in the British Netball Superleague and for the Uganda Netball team as the GS.

Shadir Musa Bwogi is a Ugandan boxer and current captain of the Bombers, Uganda's national boxing team. He competes in the welterweight division and is a southpaw. He competed in the men's welterweight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

It is New Zealand's 22nd appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having competed at every Games since their inception in 1930. New Zealand finished fifth on the medal table, winning a total of 50 medals, 20 of which were gold. This makes these games New Zealand's best performance ever in terms of gold medals, beating the 17 won in Auckland at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, but third overall in terms of total medals, with 50, behind the 58 in 1990, and the 53 at the Games also in Auckland.

The 2022 Africa Men's Sevens are an annual African rugby sevens tournament that took place at the Kyadondo Rugby Club, Kampala between 23 and 24 April 2022; they were held in Uganda for the second time. The top three teams qualified for the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town, and the top two teams qualified to the 2022 World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series. In addition, the top two Commonwealth teams not already qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games via the World Rugby Sevens Series booked their places in Birmingham.

The 2022 Africa Women's Sevens are an annual African rugby sevens tournament that took place at the Stade Municipal de Jemmal in Jemmal on 29 and 30 April 2022; they were held in Tunisia for the fourth time.

During the Parade of Nations at the 2022 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, held on 28 July 2022, athletes bearing the flags of their respective nations lead their national delegations as they paraded into Alexander Stadium in the host city of Birmingham, England. A total of 72 Commonwealth Games Associations entered into the stadium.

The 2024–25 Uganda Premier League is the 57th season of the Uganda Premier League, the top-tier football league in Uganda. The season started on 13 September 2024 and is expected to end on 24 May 2025.

Saidi Mayanja is a Ugandan professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for KCCA FC in the Uganda Premier League.

David Bagoole is a Ugandan professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Wakiso Giants FC. He is best known for his time with Vipers SC, one of Uganda's top football clubs. Nicknamed "Tong Po" and "The Animal," Bagoole is celebrated for his physicality, dribbling, and passing abilities.
