The 2025 Chicago White Sox season will be the club's 126th season in Chicago, their 125th in the American League and their 35th at Guaranteed Rate Field. It will be their first year under new manager Will Venable. They will be looking to improve on their historically bad 2024 season, when they set a record for most losses in the modern era.
After the team was 28–89 and recently tied an AL record with a 21-game losing streak, manager Pedro Grifol and parts of his staff were fired by the team on August 8. [1] The White Sox appointed baserunning coach Grady Sizemore as interim manager [2] in which the team didn't get any better as they went 13–32 under Sizemore but finished the year by winning 5 of their last 6 games despite finishing with an MLB record worst 41–121. On October 31, 2024, White Sox hired Texas Rangers associate manager Will Venable as their 44th manager. [3] Venable was a former MLB outfielder who played for 9 seasons with the San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Dodgers. He recently was the first/third base coach for the Chicago Cubs from 2018–2020 and then being hired by the Boston Red Sox to be the bench coach from 2021–2022 before the Rangers hired him as an associate manager to Bruce Bochy in 2023 winning the 2023 World Series in the process.
