The United States Air Force's 243d Air Traffic Control Squadron (243 ATCS) is an Air Traffic Control unit located at Cheyenne Air National Guard Base, Wyoming.
The 243rd ATCS is one of only ten ANG Air Traffic Control Squadrons located throughout the United States. [1] Their mission is to deploy and employ Air Traffic Control services worldwide. [2] [3]
An important part of the Guard air traffic control mission includes establishing bases in locations without existing air traffic control facilities. [4]
242 Air Traffic Control Flight was given a change of station order on 1 July 1996 from Spokane, Washington to Cheyenne, Wyoming. [5] The 242 Air Traffic Control Flight was redesignated the 243 Air Traffic Control Squadron on 1 November 1996. [6]
The 243rd was one of the first units activated in support of Operation Enduring Freedom after the September 11 attacks. The unit was deployed to Jacobabad, Pakistan. [7]
The 243rd ATCS has numerous career fields including: Air Traffic Controller, Airfield Systems, Ground Radar Systems, Electrical Power Production, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Logistics Plans, Material Management Administrative, and Personnel. [9]

No. 44 Wing is a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) wing responsible for providing air traffic control services to the Australian Defence Force. Marine Air Traffic Control Units (MATCU) were United States Marine Corps air traffic control (ATC) detachments that provided continuous, all-weather, radar and non-radar, approach, departure, enroute, and tower ATC services at both garrison Marine Corps Air Stations and tactical airfields when deployed. MATCUs possessed Tactical air navigation systems (TACAN) and Ground-controlled approach (GCA) equipment which assisted Marine Corps, joint and coalition aircraft in conducting landings during inclement weather. During the Vietnam War, numerous MATCUs served throughout the I Corps Tactical region of South Vietnam supporting the III Marine Amphibious Force. Beginning in the mid-1970s, the Marine Corps decided to consolidate regionally aligned MATCUs into Marine Air Traffic Control Squadrons. The last reserve MATCU was decommissioned in 1980.
Marine Air Traffic Control Squadron 18 (MATCS-18) was a United States Marine Corps aviation command and control squadron responsible for providing continuous, all-weather air traffic control services for the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing throughout the Pacific region. MATCS-18 was formed by consolidating four, regionally aligned Marine Air Traffic Control Units under one command to better integrate them with the Marine Air Command and Control System. The squadron was headquartered at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan and fell under the command of Marine Air Control Group 18. MATCS-18 was decommissioned in September 1994 and the air traffic control detachments were placed under the command of Marine Air Control Squadron 4.
